Saskatchewan Roughrider legend Ron Lancaster dead: Lancaster rewrote the CFL record book during an illustrious playing career which lasted from 1960 to 1978. The final 16 seasons were spent with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He retired as the league's all-time leader in passing yards (50,535), touchdown passes (333), pass attempts (6,223) and completions (3,384). The Little General also led Saskatchewan to 50 fourth-quarter come-from-behind victories.

Questionable Call: Near the end of the Broncos-Chargers game today, there was a very curious call on the fumble/incompletion by Jay Cutler near the end of the game. The play was clearly a fumble by every replay, but because referee Ed Hochuli had blown the play dead, the ball returned to the Broncos at the spot of the fumble instead of going to the Chargers by way of recovering the fumble. The Broncoes went on to score a touchdown, a 2-point conversion, and win the game 39-38.

TIGER-CATS fire Head Coach Charlie Taaffe: "This has not been an easy situation for me," said Tiger-Cats general manager Bob O'Billovich. "I'm not in favour of making a coaching change in the middle of the season but the more I looked at it, Charlie was not the right guy for the situation as it stands now." Former UFC Champion Found Dead: Former UFC Middleweight Champion Evan Tanner has passed away at age 37. He was found by an Imperial County Sheriffs Department Deputy on Monday. Tanner was found while on a trip to the California desert. Perhaps foreshadowing, Tanner reassured fans on his web blog that this trip was not going to be another version on "Into The Wild". The cause of death is not yet known. R.I.P. Evan Tanner, a free spirit and a great sportsman!

Haskins, the Hall of Fame coach credited with helping break color barriers in college sports in 1966 when he used five black starters to win a national basketball title for Texas Western, died Sunday. He was 78.

University of Toronto Varsity Blues kick losing ways: An 18-17 win over the University of Waterloo Warriors ended the skid at 49 games last night......But a streak this long couldn't end so easily. Waterloo had 21 ticks on the clock left and drove the ball over midfield. With six seconds left on the clock, the Warriors punted and for a few seconds all 2,565 on hand had their hearts in their throats as the ball bounced off return man Matt Morris' hands and fell to the ground on the U of T one-yard line.
