Concern for Titans' Young prompts police search: Nashville police were asked to search for Vince Young on Monday evening after family members placed a call to the Tennessee Titans informing them of their concern for the quarterback's state of mind.
So, if I am reading the story correctly, an adult left his home and went to a friend's house. Said adult then went to work, talked to some people and went home. Ummm, wow indeed.

Must be a slow news day. Unless the titans are covering up something, what would prompt them to call police. I would like to hear the rest of the story. Was Vince threatening himself or others, was he armed? why is this a story.

I saw the Titans-Jags game. Young's demeanor near the end of the game, before his injury, was pretty odd -- he sat on the bench with his head in his hands and kept like that despite several players and coaches coming up to him. Normally you don't see a starting quarterback throw his own pity party like that.

supposedly he took himself out of Sunday's game after the INT and had to be coaxed back into the game by Fisher.
This after mentioning he almost retired after his rookie season, which most just blew off as nonsense when we heard it.
Now this report about his family being concerned about his safety, post-game?
Something seems seriously wrong with the guy.
If any/all are true, then he doesn't seem to have the mental toughness to be an NFL QB. Which is surprising given the adversity he's been through and conquered in his life, both on and off the field.

I'm not sure if "mental toughness", or lack thereof, is the right way to be looking at things. He may have some serious mental health issue, perhaps caused by something physiological or perhaps not -- but in any event, it's not evidence of a character flaw, which the charge of lack of "mental toughness" would seem to suggest. He seems truly troubled in some way, so I suggest suspending judgment about his character for now at least.

was he armed?
One report says he had an unloaded gun.

"I was given some information from people that were close to him late afternoon, early evening that was quite honestly very concerning to me. I'm not going to go into specifics, but it was concerning to me," Fisher said.
Concerning enough to call the police and have "negotiators on standby". As far as I know, police negotiators are only for hostage situations and attempted suicides.
Vince's family is saying that he's "hurting inside and out". His friends as well as members of the Titans organization are denying that he was, is, or may be depressed.
Either this is a massive misunderstanding or somebody is doing a whole lot of lying.

I hope this is not the early stages of another Alonzo Spellman. It was sad to see him struggle in Chicago.

Very unprofessional. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. There are alot of other QB's that would take the job in a heartbeat.

That's pretty insensitive, Doehead. No amount of "Suck it up" or "Just get over it" will overcome a mental illness like depression (if Young indeed struggles with something like that). Would you take the same stance with Jay Cutler, who was diagnosed w/ Type 1 Diabetes this offseason? Depression and other mental ailments can be just as debilitating as a torn ACL, only harder to diagnose and fix.

Damnit, cybermac, Vince Young plays professional sports. Ergo, he's not a human being and comments about him are not subject to logic, as per the Smoot-Hawley Act. It's really unprofessional to have feelings and be upset. Good to know.

Ummm, Wow. I'm glad it turned out to be less of a concern than the family thought. It makes me curious as to what VY was saying as he left the house. Not necessarily a morale boost for the rest of the team, though.
