A laughing stock no more: A few years ago when the Pirates set the record for most losing seasons in a row among the 4 "major" sports I took the opportunity to rant on this page. Last year when the streak hit 20 I did again. After 20 years of memories of Sid Bream beating Bonds throw from left I would like to thank the Pirates for giving me something to cheer about again. The Pirates finished the year 94-68. I number no one would have guessed at the start of the season. Players from the minors moved up and made an impact(Cole last night among others). The team made moved at the deadline to add offense not dump salary. They were run like a real franchise this year. Most importantly they made a city care again. PNC Park packed and rocking is amazing. After 20 years of frustration we finally have a winner. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and we wont have to wait another 20. This team has a solid young core and some real good pitching. As long as ownership doesnt trade it all away Pirate baseball is back!

Next year the streak will be old enough to buy a drink.: EPIC FAIL. The Pirates just finished up their 20th losing season in a row after being 16 games over .500 earlier in the year. I first posted this 3 years ago when they set the record and will every year until the streak ends. The franchise is a JOKE not just in Pittsburgh but around the league, Ownership is a JOKE, The plan to turn this team into "Baseballs Hells Angels" is a JOKE. After 20 years of sucking, there is no end in sight. O by the way, the team made $20 million this year and had a top 3 attendance in history. SO Much RAGE

Get your pencils out..: On average, 30-40 fans are kicked out of every NFL game. Starting this year, any fan kicked out of a game will be banned from the stadium until they pay for a 4 hour online course on anger mgt and pass a test. May be some empties in my section this year.

The Kid is back: Understand that it will take a little time. Sidney Crosby hadn't played in a game in nearly 11 months until Monday night, so it's inevitable that he'll need a little time to scrape the rust off his game. In his return, he shook that rust off with a 2 goal/ 4 pt night in 16 min of ice time.

If your favorite NFL team was candy, they would be......: Dont know if this IS FPP worthy, but it is Halloween so why not. Disclaimed: No one was hazed during the posting of this article.

The Steelers lost 18 seconds for their final drive because the clock operator kept it running after the kickoff ended, then didn't tell anyone after finally stopping the clock.
As a Steelers "watcher" Tomlin has had some of the worst clock mgt. since he got here. They blow the clock every week.

Someday, MLB will get around to banning the "wide takeout slide" at second base, like they did the "plow into the catcher" play at home.
He is done for the year. Broken leg and blown out ACL

Extra point snapped from the 15 question: A team scores a touchdown and takes a 15 yard unsportsmanlike for dancing like a stooge. Will the extra point now be snapped from the 30(a 47 yarder) or will it still be assessed on the kickoff.?

My question is this. If a player takes a celebration penalty, will it now be an extra point snapped at the 30(47 yarder) or will it still be assessed on the kickoff?

The field goal percentages for the middle of the field between 30-35 yards was 97.5% last year. Extra pts were 99.6. Not much drop off.

The 2 point conversion rate is almost 48%. I would think if you are a bad team(Tampa, Cleveland, Oakland), you go for 2 every time. If you can score on anywhere over 50%, you as a team will be scoring more points. Chip Kelly, have at it.

I mean, if it didn't matter at all, QBs wouldn't have a preference or have pushed for ball prep control would they?
Ding ding ding!!!!! We have a winner.

How can anyone see this as a minor issue?
You can argue all day that the air pressure in the ball doesnt make much difference and maybe you are right, but that is like using a slightly smaller baseball or a slightly lighter shot-put or having your car in a race slightly lower to the ground or saying "I only took steroids to heal faster."
IT IS THE RULES. FOLLOW THEM.
I am a teacher. I know kids cheat on tests. I tell them "Don't cheat". I am sure some get away with it, but if you are caught, punishment is severe. All the "entitled" athletes need to learn they are not above the rules. Even Golden Boy Brady
People make rules, others try to get around them. If you get caught, DEAL WITH IT. They knew they were breaking the rule. They had not been caught yet, so they kept doing it. The Pats have a history of walking that fine line and crossing it. At some point you gotta pay the piper.

Quarterbacks inflating the football to their liking leads to what, exactly?
-Better grip
-Easier to catch
-Tighter spiral
-Less slipping on the ball during throws.(conspiracy:TUCK RULE)
Nothing major

They unleveled the playing field. No difference then a PED user. Cheating is cheating. They knew the rules, they broke them(repeatedly) they got caught. As an organization, the have a history. Punishment must be harsh to hopefully help them and the league see that if you break the rules, there are consequences.
I still blame the league for giving the teams control of the balls. They opened up the possibility. If your not cheating, your not trying.

I don't think Joe Montana's perfect record in Super Bowls would have survived against the Dallas Cowboys in the 1993 season.
They would never play each other in a Super Bowl...

I needed that safety for my block pool. Lynch or a QB sneak/boot is the only play call option in my opinion. Ball cant be in the air.
