Kobe Bryant Dies in Helicopter Crash: Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna died Sunday morning along with seven others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. Bryant was a two-time NBA Finals MVP, a one-time league MVP, eighteen time all-star and was third in NBA's all-time scoring leaders until Saturday night at 33,654 when he was passed by LeBron James.

Luke Kuechly Retires from NFL at 28: Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly announced his retirement from the NFL Wednesday. Kuechly, defensive rookie of the year in 2012 and defensive player of the year in 2013, has the most tackles in the league since he entered it. He's suffered numerous concussions and leaves two more years of a $10 million salary on the table. "I still want to play, but I don't think it's the right decision," he said.

Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow on Monday shortly after Major League Baseball announced the pair would be suspended for a year as part of the penalties for the investigation into alleged electronic-sign stealing.

Seahawks Beat Eagles After Carson Wentz Leaves with Concussion: The hard-luck football life of Carson Wentz continues. In his first playoff game, Wentz left the Eagles/Seahawks divisional round game in the first quarter after a blow to the head that gave him concussion symptoms. The Eagles brought 40-year-old backup Josh McCown in for his first playoff start and were miraculously within 8 points of Seattle with two minutes remaining only 10 yards from the end zone. But McCown was sacked on fourth down and Seattle won 17-9.
Vikings Beat Saints as Huge NFC Playoff Underdog: No one can say any more that Kirk Cousins lacks a big game win. Cousins led the Minnesota Vikings down the field at the start of overtime to score a touchdown and defeat the heavily favored New Orleans Saints 26-20 at the Superdome. New Orleans had tied the game as time expired with a 49-yard Will Lutz field goal.
Tennessee Sends Patriots Out of Playoffs in First Round: Giving up 184 yards on the ground to NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry, the New England Patriots were upset by the Tennessee Titans 20-13 in their AFC wild card playoff game, throwing the media in full Tom Brady retrospective mode. Tom Brady, who will become a free agent for the first time in his career on March 18, said he's unlikely to retire. If he leaves, his last pass for the Pats was a pick-6.

Texans Overcome 16-0 Deficit to Beat Bills: Down 16-0 at home four minutes into the second half before a crowd that booed them running into the locker room at the half, the Houston Texans rallied to score 19 unanswered points in an AFC wild card playoff game and defeated the Buffalo Bills in overtime on a Ka’imi Fairbairn field goal. Buffalo remains winless in the playoffs since 1995.
