I think this is a fantastic idea. On the other hand there is room for controversy. If they pull this off it would be a game of olympic proportions in my mind. Imagine being the best hockey team in the world. One problem I see is if you have, say, a Swedish player on your team and we play Sweden, where is that players loyalty going to lay?

I too disagree with the Bears - Packers spread. I think the Bears are going to take it to the Packers to show that they are in it for the trophey. They were quoted in Green Bays paper today as saying "we are treating this as our first playoff game". As far as Favre retiring; he has the mindset that he can get the 12 TD passes to tie Marino's record that he will keep coming back until he gets it even though he is a 16th season, 25th ranked QB. We do have one helluva QB at my daughters school, just a thought.

Here in Green Bay every bar has at least six TV screens, so it won't affect the amatuers that believe they have to start at 6:00. Then there are those who have long sense realized New Years Eve is not a good reason to be loud and stupid and try to play hide and seek from the DUI cops. I will probably watch something else and flash back to see the score on occasion. I was surprised that the paper only has the Bears by three. The Packers are going to take a dive. Even if every thing was to fall in place in their favor, they still have to win this game. It just isn't going to happen. They don't have it & Favre is only staying because he wants Marino's TD passing record. He needs to get over it, it is just not going to happen with the currrent team. Bears by 14!

No, BECAUSE he was all over the media and it made him someone to talk about and make jokes about DUI. Look at this stream, how many of you ignorant dorks have made jokes about this Bently driving potential death machine pissing in the street. There is nothing to laugh about and because he has money and celebrity status he will not go through what we poor peasents would, that is just the facts. Do your reaserch and see how many pro athletes and other famous people have DUI but are still drinking and driving. Maybe they will hit you next, and if you live, you can laugh then.

He has no excuse and the bitch of it all is that sence he has money he won't get shit for this compared to what you or I would get.

My Dad lives in Indianapolis and swears by the Colts (and the Pacers, so you know, well....) He is really sweating it now, especially after last week. Yeah I live in G.B now, but yes I was born and raised a Hoosier, please don't hold it against me. I love looking in the paper to see any Indy loss. All Indy has that I care for is the racing. I don't know what is going on with Manning, maybe he and Favre have been hanging out.

You know, I have always agreed with your Packer picks, and as I have said I live in G.B. & am not a fan, but this time I have to differ. Detroit has a very distinct advantage this week. My in-laws are in town to see the game. They love the Packers and think they are the best team there is. They are from the U.P. of MI., what do you expect. Very weird thinking there. Anyway with them in the stands it puts a hex on the Packers and gives the Lions an edge. I say Detroit anything over the Packers. Besides, lets let the Lions have a win, the Packers aren't going to the playoffs anyway.

The Av's lost some key players this year. Even though they are low in the standings they are in reality only 4 points out. Sakic can't carry the team all year though. They just don't seem to gel. They almost seem like they are playing individually instead of as a team. This will end, but I don't think soon enough. Add to the fact the goalie problems, I really have nothing good to say to defend my favorite team. Come playoffs I'm pretty sure they will be driving the zamboni.

I have to agree with the 49er - Packer pick, and I live in Green Bay, not a fan. Favre has already started the game he played last year, will he be back next year or not? NO, stay away, RETIRE, stop trying to go after Marino's records. He has to have foot surgery after this season, the same as two years ago and look how he played last year. League leader in interceptions. He has a banged up throwing shoulder that affects his acurasy. If the Pack wants to rebuild, then do it completely. Favre should have retired last year, the fans even want him gone after this year. Hell, he was booed off the field last week. That's pretty bad.

Shootouts are for the entertainment of the peolple in attendance, beacuse we all know that when you watch any event live it is a differant element. I personaly am not a huge fan of the shoot-out the way it is now. It just doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling. It would be like having a field goal kicking contest to decide a football game, just move the footbal back every try, the losing team gets a half win. Look, if you win, you win three points. If you lose, you go into the locker room with you head down, licking your wounds after just losing three points. That is it, no two for a win, one for a loss. No other sport does such a silly system. Football, Basketball, Baseball? I'm sure they would love it. I am an Avalanche fan and they are in real trouble this year, but if they lose three points when they lose, oh well, they lose them. Shoot outs are fine, as long as the loser knows they are getting no points.

Why is it such a stretch to diversify NASCAR? IRL has no problem. Danica Patrick is a superiour driver. She drives for a small team, Letterman Racing, and is doing well. By the way all you southern boys, she is considering a run at stock cars in two years. Since NASCAR is such a southern, good-ole-boy sport, I think that is where all the opposition is. Remember when Janet Guthrie was the first woman to run the Indy 500 under UCAC rule in the '70s? Same thing.

The constant complaining about calls delays the games and in most cases is one sided anyway. I am all for this change. Basketball has become a sport of over paid premadonnas. Give me another sport where there is this much complaing. They may complain in Hocckey, but they do it on the way to the box, they don't do it every other play. Football, the coach complains but the game goes on unless he throws a flag (maybe basketball needs instant replay). Bseball managers are expected to argue at least once a game, it is tradition. There is no progression of more rules by the NBA. If the players think officiating is bad, put three officials on the court. I agree, they argue too much and most of the time they just want the foul shots. Good for the NBA on this rule

Being from Green Bay I can only put my 21/2 cents in. Favre is hurt, he will start so he doesn't break his team record of career starts, Rodgers takes over by 2nd half. Reciever Donald Driver (Favres #1 target) out, reciever Robert Ferguson out, Halfback Ahman green very questionable, Rookie offensive/defensive line; I think the spread is very conservative. My prediction: Packers- 14 / Rams- 28. Then they go on the mend with a bye next week.

If the consenses is that the hoop be lowered then there needs to be some rule changes/enforcements. No traveling to Dunk, no hanging from the hoop, enforce goaltending and call charging when it is charging and not a foul. Maybe we need an extra official on the court, hockey has fewer rules and they have three on the ice.

McCartney drafted and traded all wrong this year and now has a rookie offensive and defensive line. The Bears are VERY good this year.

There just needs more done to turn the team around. The players themselves almost seem content with playing a little ball and going home. Where is the kick in the ass? Where is the manager screaming at them for stupid plays and lousy performance? Where is the professionalism? The Cubs need a lot of work from the bottom up not just a resignation from a big buck CEO.

He needs to learn from some of the other bottom feaders like the Cubs (GO CUBs) that you need to involve the fans into the game with fun nights and other promotions. Wouldn't cost him anything, that's all advertising $$, but it gives the team a better image. Most importantly you reorganize management with people who know what the game and know what they are doing. The O's aren't the only team with this problem, just the one with the exposure.
