Midnight Zamboni run prompts firings. : Now tell the truth...if you had the chance wouldn't you have done it too? I sure would have!

You know what, commander? I'm sick of your rampant Zamboni editorializing in your FPPs...at long last, have you no sense of decency, sir? Actually, from reading the title, I didn't realize they actually took the Zambonis (two of 'em, no less!), and I didn't realize they took 'em out of the building...I just figured they were racing around inside all night long or something, but to use $90,000 worth or hockey equipment for a whopper-with-cheese-run is just insane. Happy Thanksgiving, turkeys!

That is classic! I would love to know if they at least got to enjoy their cheeseburgers. Wow, I didn't know the blades on those things were ten grand apiece!

On the next episode of "Pimp My Ride"......ehhh, I just can't go on with it.

WOW, don't know what to say. A trick paint job, spinner rims, out of this world sound system? A little engine tune to get it to at least 3mph. Could turn it into a slick Whopper snatcher. What a pair of boneheads

I mean goddamn, are we so PC that nobody can have any fun anymore? This is the coolest stunt this year. They should have got a reprimand or time off at worst.

This is the coolest stunt this year. They should have got a reprimand or time off at worst. $85,000 stunts don't recieve reprimands or time off. While it is a cool stunt, people who risk that kind of money don't just recieve a slap on the hand from their employer.

Sure its 85,000 big ones. But,was anybody injured?Did any damage occur?

It's a cool stunt for sure. But they were caught. Being fired is pretty much automatic after that. They're not prosecuted or anything, so all's well.

I think they got fired for being dumb enough to get caught. If I had access to one I'd be a bit more discreet. Or if I wasn't going to be then I'd do something cooler like taking it to a drive-in movie on a date. ;-)

Signs that the universe is slightly confused: 1 - Basketball invented by Canadian 2 - Zamboni invented by Californian Losing a shitty job in exchange for being able to tell this story for the rest of your life? Ah - probably about even money, there. I asume it was fun.

Another good one, Commander Cody!!! Reminds me of the scene in "Mystery, Alaska" where Hank Azaria's character is drunk and sneaking out of town at night. Weedy, I agree with you, that story is good for at least a few free drinks at the local pub! The article says they were temporary city employees so that might account for their apparent indifference to being fired. At least they went out in style! BTW, Commander, you own me a new keyboard, I spit my beverage all over mine when I saw your headline!

Really, if you're going to take a zamboni out for a spin, shouldn't you take it to a all night basketball court and interupt the game and drive the zamboni up and down the court and then yell "all done" and drive off? I mean, come on.

At 5 miles an hour, and they went 1 1/2 miles for a whopper w/ cheese, it took them about 18 minutes one way. Over a half hour round trip. I'm surprised they made it back to the rink with out being pulled over by a cop. But I must say,it must of been pretty comical to see 2 zambonies chugging down the road with the drivers with Burger King bags of food. How they figured they wouldn't get caught I have no idea. Pretty funny article commander. Complete stupidity on their part, but they are probably laughing their asses off today. A story to tell their grandchildren.

What the hell are they supposed to do? Drive-throughs have signs that they don't serve walk-ups. Jeez!

I have to agree wholeheartedly with those who think this stunt was worth losing a job over. I would have a hard time imagining a civil service job for the Parks Dept being more valuable then the years and years of re-telling this story in bars and at family reunions. Sorry about your KB steelergirl. Email me the bill for it and I'll pay you just as soon as I get my 10% of the millions of dollars I'm helping get transferred out of Nigeria just by giving them my bank information. I'm sure I'll get the money any day now...won't I?
