Flex this!: NBC has exercised its right to move the Chicago Bears/Green Bay Packers from noon to 7:15 p.m. on Sunday in accordance with the network's TV deal with the NFL. This is great news for TV viewers, but not so great if you have New Year's Eve plans or children, says Tribune columnist Ed Sherman.

Kinda defeats the purpose in this case, no?

Traditionally I sit at home on new years, but I hear some people make plans months in advance. Yeah, I'd be pissed.

Who goes out before 10pm on New Year's Eve? Losers, that's who.

What could be a better way to spend New Year's eve than watching the Bears and Packers??? Who wants to go out on amateur night? Not me! GO BEARS!

Nothing like spending new year's eve watching a washed up QB playing against an overrated defense. Gotta love the NFC!

Who goes out before 10pm on New Year's Eve? Losers, that's who. Uncannily enough, I said the exact same thing to a co-worker yesterday as we were discussing our scheduling for New Year's Eve.

When I was in college, we would have a night game scheduled, but they would move it to a noon game for ABC. Of course, at noon, in Florida, it was about 100 degrees and unbearable. But, anything for the national television audience.

New Years Eve is too expensive to do anything in this town but get hammered at someone's house and try to sleep with the most willing person available. I call days like that Saturdays.

I have to be at work at 8 am New Year's Day anyway.

If you have plans and you actually think this game is worth watching, you may want to check out something called TIVO or VHS recorder or DVD recorder. People with tickets to the game, yes they could be getting a raw deal, but the rest of us won't be bothered one bit.

Bears and Packers on sunday night? Who cares? I'll be sitting at home listening to my police scanner. That's always fun on new years eve.

My band is playing a reasonably big show that night, I'm kind of curious as to how this will affect turnout.

Here in Green Bay every bar has at least six TV screens, so it won't affect the amatuers that believe they have to start at 6:00. Then there are those who have long sense realized New Years Eve is not a good reason to be loud and stupid and try to play hide and seek from the DUI cops. I will probably watch something else and flash back to see the score on occasion. I was surprised that the paper only has the Bears by three. The Packers are going to take a dive. Even if every thing was to fall in place in their favor, they still have to win this game. It just isn't going to happen. They don't have it & Favre is only staying because he wants Marino's TD passing record. He needs to get over it, it is just not going to happen with the currrent team. Bears by 14!

I seem to faintly remember a frankiem, who was a troll. Then again, it could be any number of users that "graced" our presence.

Where are the picks from week 16? Bye week because of Xmas? My humble apologies. We were so busy in the store last week, I just couldn't find time to write up anything, so I just posted the barebones picks on my blog (fromhoosiertohoser.blogspot.com). Of course, I went 10-6 ATS and hit both the Lock of the Week and the Trifecta, damn it. Week 17's picks are in the hopper and are already up on the columns page.
