The Hoser's NFL Picks, Week Fourteen.: NFL picks that just can't get into "Grey's Anatomy."
I'm not sure the Rams have what it takes to keep the Bears (even with Grossman) from scoring. Did you watch the rams last week?? In the past, even when the rams had sub-par teams, they were tough at home. Last week they stunk up the joint against a sub-sub-par team. This team is done! The defense is again showing their lack of talent. An offensive line that has done nothing but pass block for 6 or 7 years can't create holes for a running back who has yet to prove (at least to me) that he is anything more than an average NFL back. And when the O-line does pass block, Bulger can't find one of the best receivers in the game. Note to Hoser: Pick whoever the Rams are playing as your "Lock of the week" for the rest of the season!!!

a running back who has yet to prove (at least to me) that he is anything more than an average NFL back. In the last six weeks, Jackson has accounted for 1005 yards from scrimmage and four TDs, while playing without the best left tackle in football. Being able to do that, while the passing game has been practically non-existent, moves him out of the "average" category in my book.

I have to agree with the 49er - Packer pick, and I live in Green Bay, not a fan. Favre has already started the game he played last year, will he be back next year or not? NO, stay away, RETIRE, stop trying to go after Marino's records. He has to have foot surgery after this season, the same as two years ago and look how he played last year. League leader in interceptions. He has a banged up throwing shoulder that affects his acurasy. If the Pack wants to rebuild, then do it completely. Favre should have retired last year, the fans even want him gone after this year. Hell, he was booed off the field last week. That's pretty bad.

But since you like stats- here's a good one (the only one that matters!) Rams record during that same six weeks, 1-5. The point of my post: This Team Is Done!!

This Team Is Done!! Well, no shit. You said much more than that in your post. The point of my post was Jackson, and as for the 1-5, maybe you think he should go out and make tackles, cover receivers, and make interceptions? It doesn't take a genious to figure the Rams are going nowhere, but you said Jackson was "average." I disagree. Someone like Leon Washington, Mike Anderson or Michael Bennett are "average."

The Raiders will fold faster than Tim Krumrie’s leg in the Super Bowl. Man, that's mean...but I like it.

Well, no shit. Jeez!! Just having a little fun dyams- no need to get bitter. BUT HE IS STILL AVERAGE!!!!

pcbenedict, we're always glad to have new folks participating but, as someone new to this board, you might want to read the guidelines and some of the archives to get a better feel for the type of discussion we prefer to have. For better or worse, pointing fingers at athletes who don't deserve it just for having a snark is not tolerated all that well--and this is true whether the comment comes from a new member or one who has a single digit member number.

Hoser, Thanks for the insightful picks and humor. I always look forward to your weekly picks. I am pretty sure that your doing as well as Dr. Z and Peter King and they aren't near as humorus. Keep it up!

Nick Saban had a pop at the press-predictors in his post-game press conference this week, pointing out that most of them were "six-and-six" and no better than he was and they call themselves "experts." 121/70, straight up, is not to be sniffed at. In other news, I've just realised the Hoser is "Double-you Frazer Junior" - I always butchered it into something like 'wra-fraz-err-jur' in my mind.

I finished up 9-7 ATS and 10-6 SU, with an eerily close call on the Eagles-Redskins game. This, however, is easily offest by being miles away on the Indy/J'ville contest. Suck it, Peyton. Thanks for the kind words, Termite and Mr. B. I am faring much better than most of the idiots sportswriters in the big papers, but of course, not faring well enough to move to Vegas, become a Wise Guy and sit front row at Celine. So I guess there is a God. As for my handle, no guff, Chet. I thought yerfatma was some sort of Krishna chant for the longest time.

I love this game. That particular one, you understand. There have been several others I liked, but not that way.

Low-scoring prediction on the Bears/Rams, huh? I'm not sure the Rams have what it takes to keep the Bears (even with Grossman) from scoring. Their ground-game may take it's toll. Unless the Rams (and Steven Jackson in particular) can move the ball on offense, their defense will get worn down. Hopefully your prediction is closer to the truth.
