Chris Simon cheap shot: (via YouTube). The clothesline with the stick to Hollweg's face put the Rangers on the PP, allowing them to capitalize and score the GW goal. There has been talk on sports radio this morning that they would like to see Simon suspended into next year.

Mystique of Original 6 Fading.: This story is slanted due to fact it only speaks of the attendance figures of Blackhawk games against Original teams. I can only think that is becasue Wirtz has absolutely ruined this team during his ownership and could care less about putting a quality product on the ice. Hawks attendance sucks regardless of who their opponent is. I am wondering if this is a league wide phenomenom or simply Hawks fans not showing up? Do the fans in the other 5 Original cities show up in droves? I think maybe this author is generalizing because of the plight of Chicago's hockey team but I can't speak for the other cities.

Speaking of Bieksa, the hit on him by Bickell was a carbon copy of Torres on Seabrook
Yeah, but Bieksa was playing the puck and Seabrook wasn't. Torres got a penalty for interference, which was the right call.

Just absolutely heartbreaking. He was one of my favorite '85 Bears. I just hope something positive can come out of this tragedy. RIP DD.

The example I point to most is the opinion Trent Dilfer delivered on camera
You have to take what Dilfer says about Cutler with a grain of salt. For whatever reason, Dilfer has been ripping the Bears and Cutler all season - to the point where one has to wonder if it was personal for some reason. He had said so many times that the Bears and Culter were so bad, that when they went on a 7-1 run after the bye, he still couldn't find anything good to say when confronted with his earlier critiques. He was on Chicago radio time and time again condemning the team and its quarterback, and when confronted with reason and logic from the hosts (some of who were former players), he would become more defensive and agitated. I don't know if Cutler hit on his wife or the Bears passed on him in free agency or draft, but he had become laughable with his obvious bias and vitriol. I am one to believe as your argument gets louder and louder, the less defensible your position is.

I don't know how anyone can say the Bears were overrated when they limited the juggernaut that is the Green Bay Packer Offense to a total of 24 points in the last two games.

Yeah, ok Dad. We are soo sorry we disappointed you.
You can make your point without being a sarcastic asshole. And until you can show me your degree in orthapedic medicine, making statements that Cutler could've kept playing is ignorant and uninformed. From everything I have read and heard, with this type of injury, his lateral movement was greatly impaired and there was a possibility of doing even further damage to his knee had he continued playing. So, yeah, I can deny that he could have continued. Your argument is meatballish. Or maybe just juvenile.

Can we please quit beating this goddamn horse to death. Cutler was injured, this much is true. It was a Grade 2 sprain - sounds pretty bad, especially for a mobile quarterback that hasn't had an O line for 2 years. This whole " he shoulda sucked it up and played" bullshit is just assinine, macho garbage spewed by either those who don't know any better, or those looking to satisfy their own sense of manhood. As much as a beating this guy has taken over the past two years, does anyone with half a brain really think he "whimped out" during the NFC Championship Game?
And I'm deeply embarrased that so much of this criticism has come from so-called Bears fans. The Bears haven't had a quarterback with the level of talent that Cutler possesses in at least my lifetime (38 years). I can only hope this criticism comes from bandwagoners just catching on, but my head tells me better.

I'm guessing that the dealership isn't north of town, closer to the Wisconsin line, where there are pockets of Packer zealots ready to rise to the occasion.
Actually, it's located in the south suburbs. And how exactly is Cutler not a good "cultural" fit? I'm not even sure what that means.

Did the radio announcers have any idea, I wonder, or was their call just as awkward?
I later heard the Murray/Wiedeman call. Wiedeman knew it right away and went completely apeshit. One of the best calls I have ever heard. It helps that I'm a Hawks fan, though.

The hawks are in serious cap trouble. They better do it this year because they will lose at least one big gun(I bet Kane) as just a cap move.
Kane isn't going anywhere. He, Toews, and Keith all signed multi-year extensions this season. They are the young core of the team. Bolland, Verstig, Sharp, Byfuglien. This is where the cap hit will come in. Not only that, but Niemi and Hjalmarsson are RFAs after this season and are grossly underpaid.
And as far as Hossa is concerned, that guy has been an absolute beast. many nights he is the best forward on the ice...for either team. He hasn't scored a lot of goals in the playoffs (he's been a bit snakebitten) but if not for him, the Blackhawks wouldn't be playing for that big shiny thing.

It wasn't meant to be sexist. That was not the context of the comment. It was meant to emasculate an athlete who, in one particular incident - admittedly, acted in way that is common in little girls. That's not sexist toward women or females, that's demeaning toward one male individual. A fine line, maybe.
And I admit, it was juvenile. I just don't like Burrows. I typically like to keep the discourse civil, but every now and then I let my passion and lack of objectivity bleed through. I know this is not the typical fan board and I try to conduct myself accordingly. I apologize if I have offended anyone. That was not my intent (other than Burrows, of course).

Wow! Forgive me for not liking Alex Burrows. Next time I'll refrain from commenting on athletes I have a personal distaste for and we can all live in a happy place and get along swimmingly.
And I admitted that I hadn't seen the video. I was simply posing a query as to whether or not the calls were justified. Maybe some spofites had seen it and could enlighten me. But instead, I get grief for disliking Alex.
In reference to Alice vs. Alex, that just happened to be a popular jab at him in Chicago during the playoffs last year stemming from said hair pulling incident. You know, like little girls are often want to do when they fight one another.
And if you object to my use of the word nimrod in describing Alex Burrows, how about the word tool? Or are you going to refer to dictionary.com for the proper definition of that word as well? Oh wait...penis is actually listed there. So I must be referring to him as the male sexual organ used for intercourse and pissing.
In the future, I'll just keep my humble opinions to myself and attempt to only respond in a passionless, objective manor when discussing sports on a sports forum.
And if you have evidence of the fishhooking, I'd like to see it.

Every team in the NHL has at least a couple of Burrows style players so I don't buy any arguments that this is justified in the least.
They don't all pull hair like a little girl, though.
I admit I'm biased on this one. Alice is a dirty player and isn't deserving of much sympathy. That said, I haven't seen the video on the calls in question so I can't speak to the validity of the calls. But is there a possibilty the calls were justified?
Oh, and Alice, good luck getting any calls go your way in the future. What a nimrod.

Let's face it. The Bears giving up a couple of first round draft picks is really not that big of a deal. They are not exactly known for their early round draft picks, are they. Cedric Benson, anyone? Chris Williams? Michael Haynes, Marc Colombo, Cade McNown. The list goes on and on. Sure, they did well with Urlacher and Olsen, but that's it. The Bears still have a compensatory 3rd round pick this year and they got a 5th round pick from the Broncos. To get their hands on a franchise-type QB, I don't think they gave up too much.
And I'm with bender, before this McDaniels uproar, I never heard anyhting negative regarding Cutler's attitude. All the sudden, he feels like he's being wronged and voicing out, and he's a petulant crybaby. I'm sure blame lies at the feet of both Cutler and the Broncos.

Also, Bickell leaves his feet while Torres glided into Seabrook.
Well, you have your reality and then there is what really happened.
