Football fans accused of hanging sheep from goalpost: The rivalry between two Sevier County high schools runs hot - so hot that Richfield football fans are suspected of killing a sheep and stringing it up at South Sevier on the eve of game day.
This doesn't seem like it would be something that would happen in high school. Sorta funny and original but all in all highly inappropriate and destructive. I'd think PETA would get in on this too. I wonder if they'll overlook it or not make the effort though since Sevier County sounds pretty redneck for high school students to be able to obtain both a gun and a sheep without anyone knowing.

"This rivalry has been going on for years and years," said Sevier County sheriff's Deputy Russell Mason. "Maybe it got a little out of hand." Maybe?

Sevier County being what it is, it's likely that the sheep was also sexually assaulted.

tselson, ewe should feel pretty sheepish.

Nah, this all just much ado about mutton.

Update: Four teens confess. "The sheep came from a farm north of Richfield, Mason said, and was killed in a field there. The teenagers did not have permission to be on the farm or to take the sheep." Uh-oh.

At least they killed the sheep before they sexually assaulted it.

Wait, is that good?

Wait, is that good? Come on black hand. If they sexually assaulted it, THEN killed it, well, that'd be just sick.

It is as long as the corpse is still warm. I mean, yeah, I guess that would be more humane.

Wait, is that good? No, it's baaaaaaaad. I bet the press are licking their chops over this story.

Can you imagine the lamb-basting those kids are gonna get?

I hope these kids are willing to deal with the ramifications.

I heard from the dad of a friend of mine that at some point in the 60s or early 70s kids from my high school somehow obtained a gigantic stingray and hung it (still kicking, and bleeding) from a meathook over the stage for the pep rally before our game against our archrival, the Stingarees. This was a serious rivalry- apparently the Gables-Miami High game actually outdrew any Dolphins game the first two years of the Dolphins existence. So... dunno, I guess we as a society were supposed to have gotten a little more mature about football since then, but maybe not ;)

Was the ewe still in its cheerleader's uniform?

And were its back legs in a boot? Those of us in sheep country need to know the details.

Did they use velcro gloves to hold it?

"The sheep came from a farm north of Richfield, Mason said, and was killed in a field there. The teenagers did not have permission to be on the farm or to take the sheep." Too bad the farmer didn't catch them and put a couple of shotgun blasts in them. Then mommmy and daddy could defend their little a$$holes.

South Sevier football coach Travis McAllister said the sheep slaying fired up his players. "It's part of the rivalry," the coach said. "It gives our kids an incentive to play harder." McAllister admitted to a few chuckles upon hearing about the prank. Maybe this ''coach'' would have a few more chuckles if it were one of his kids strung up there.

As sick and stupid as this was surely you're not equating a sheep to a human life?
posted by budman13 at 09:00 PM on October 13, 2006
Equating a sheep to human life, you say? A good sheep can be a man's wife, kid or lover. You best watch yer mouf, boy. And you sure do have a perty mouf.

The next time you order lambchops at a restaurant, maybe the cook will put a couple shotgun rounds into you I think that they should make the ewe watch the lamb be slaughtered and then make her watch me eat the chops. Give me a break.
