Scoring With A Heavy Heart.: After learning that a friend's lung cancer had spread to his brain, Anaheim's Teemu Selanne scores his first hat trick in six years, powered by emotion and his promise to save the puck for his friend if he scored three goals. Said Selanne, "I don't think he has much time to live...life is not fair sometimes."

Good post, TBH - thanks I personally liked his insight about how when he was younger, he got overly hungry for the hat trick once he had two goals - now he just takes them as they come.

This is sad. Good on Teemu for coming through under grief, but may he score hat tricks under better circumstances from here on in.

I concur. Great post, TBH. And you're right, Teemu...life sucks sometimes. Godspeed to your friend.

The odds of surviving once cancer spreads to your brain are long...but so are the odds of scoring a hat trick. May that puck bring Teemu's friend just the kind of long-odds luck he needs right now.

A class act from a "class act". Thanks for the post, TBH.

I am not a hockey fan, and couldn't even tellyou where Teemu played before reading the article. But that was inspiring. Good luck to you Teemu and god bless your friend.

Alas, only if Teemu still was with the Avalanche. Very nice tribute though.

Makes the hat trick bitter sweet. Glad he was able to do it for his friend though.
