That doesn't seem to be a zing to me. I remember Alan Bester in net when I was in grade school, and I remember that he wasn't a very good goalie. In fact, I remember a very lousy goal against St. Louis in the playoffs. Maybe Avery has good memory. Well, compared to most other NHL players -- which he called (paraphrasing) lacking in IQ. Still, for everything he's done, you have to give him credit for Elisha Cuthbert at least. ahem.

Oh, fraze, it's bad news, and it reinforces negative stereotypes all over the place. Someone will post it. And I go back & forth on Avery. Yeah, he sounds like a colossal dick, but if you're going to have heels in the game, lord, let them be colorful and fun to hate. And as far as Elisha Cuthbert goes, well, there's always been a certain stratum of starlet who finds themselves attached to NHLers in general, and Kings players in particular. It's one of the perks of playing in a place that has no skating rinks: hot and cold running C-listers with more looks than sense hanging off your every Canadianism like it was from the Great Clooney hisself. ("Chico, you're just jealous.") You are so right.

I'll tip my hat to the Masters site, I noticed earlier today that they were offering live streaming video of Amen Corner. That is awesome. You don't seem to get much in the way of free video, let alone live and streaming, from some sports (EPL, NBA and MLB don't offer free online radio streams) and it doesn't come much bigger than the Masters.

I wish the resolution was better but this is the best run I ever saw at the X-games. Bob Burnquist is the best ever in my book. It amazes my how he can catch the wrong side of the board but still throw it down and land it. Not to mention how great he is at riding 'switch'. Notice how Tony Hawk can't even keep up with the "play by play" announcing.

It looks like he tries to showboat by STANDING UP on his bike and then pulling back for a wheelie. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well. It's pretty common to see the race leader showboat for the crowd a bit as he zooms past the grandstands. In this case, he cranked that throttle waaaay too much. Those race bikes have at least 200 horsepower and don't redline until about 17K or 18K RPM. There's some serious power going on those two wheels. And yet, the dude got up and ran off the track after crashing. Amazing. Oh, and fatty, I've only heard of Bobby Bare, Jr. I keep meaning to email Nan* to see if she can hook me up with some of his stuff. * - Yeah, I'm name-dropping the co-owner of Bloodshot. What are you going to do about it? We were neighbors when I lived in Chicago. Although, we don't really speak anymore. Not since her wedding anyway.

I wish the resolution was better but this is the best run I ever saw at the X-games. Impressive, even for a non-skater like myself. However, I'd probably have enjoyed it more if that guy didn't keep screaming like a little girl every time Bob pulled a trick. I don't mind enthusiasm in my sports announcing, but squealing takes it a bit far. Edit: How do I turn off the "small" text that was left on by the comment before mine?!

Impressive, even for a non-skater like myself. Glad to help broaden your horizons. To help put this run into perspective though, on scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest difficulty, Bob pulled at least 6 tricks that were at least an 8 (not to mention the kickflip miss grab he had no business landing). During the last few years of the X-games skaters have become a lot more conservative. They will do a run of easier tricks and only pull out 1 or 2 tricks I would rank at least a 7. At this point of the competition, Bucky Lasek had pulled out an amazing run that put him in first. Bob was the last skater to go (and was already in a respectable second) and he didn't hold back at all. But yeah, that doesn't excuse Sal Masekela's squealing.

On the new helmets ......this is what was posted on Cubs.com...... It's a new "Coolflo" design by Rawlings, which six other teams -- Angels, Diamondbacks, Devil Rays, Dodgers, Mets and Orioles -- are using. They are designed to be lighter and cooler than standard helmets. The vents on the top, side and back increase air flow. Some of the Cubs said they would've liked to be able to close the vents on cold days like the home opener. They should have 2 - one for cold days and one for hot days. Seems to me it gets pretty cold in October when the Cubs will still be playing!
