I can't find upsets to like this time around. Denver and Dallas should be another Mile High shootout. In 2013 Tony Romo threw for 506 yards and four touchdowns and lost the game 51-48! Houston favored at home by 1.5 against San Francisco is a surprise. Even Chauncey Billups wouldn't take that bet.

Although if it had been Dodgers - Mariners, there was a guarantee that either team having a victory parade would cause ICE and federalized troops an untold amount of well deserved anxiety.

On a Seattle linguistic note, isn't it great that a company started by two young men was named Micro and Soft, and that a stadium whose naming rights are owned by a seller of handheld devices was built by a contractor called The Erection Company.

I was torn but really wanted to see the Mariners make their first WS.
But now I'm all for the Jays. Among other things, I hope they win so they can be received at Parliament Hill instead of the White House.

As a Day 1 Blue Jays fan, wow, just, wow.
Seattle are 'our' expansion cousins. I don't think there's any serious animosity between the fanbases, with the possible exception of when Toronto visits every year and Blue Jays fans flood into T-Mobile Park. It was a whale of a series, could easily have gone the other way. Watching Sportsnet this morning, Los Angeles is -210 to win the series, Toronto +175

I was kinda pulling for Seattle to make their first ever World Series appearance, but at the same time, I'm pretty excited to see Vladdy Jr v Ohtani.

Don't include Peacock. That number of additional games will make things unwieldy. My bold prediction for the season is that about half of the league winds up within 2 or 3 games of .500. Something around 6 or 8 teams will finish with more than 50 wins, while about that many don't make it to 30 wins. Picking the winners early in the season will be dicey.

I'm picking the Lukas to lose the season opener at home with LeBron out. ESPN has Kyrie Irving with an estimated return date of January 1, which is three months sooner than I expected. Seems risky to cut months off the normal recovery period for a torn knee ACL with a 33-year-old star. The reason he got hurt was the Mavs risked his health by having him lead the league in minutes after the Luka robbery.

I'm debating whether to include Peacock games all season or exclude them like we do NBA TV. Increasing by 75 games is a lot -- nearly two per week.

Fire the coach -- Okie State still awful (and likely to be for a little while)

That one loss was to NC State, fellow ACC-founding team.
NC State was the best team Franklin ever beat at Vanderbilt. The rest of his resume was mostly softies.
Virginia is winning with a QB who wanted to play for Belichick at UNC but Heels GM Mike Lombardi said hell no.
I should have held off on mentioning Napier until after the Gators GM finished his Sunday breakfast.
The Gators were smart to announce the Napier firing when they did on a Sunshine State media timeline, because it looks and feels like Tua, Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier are going to be given travel vouchers in Cleveland and told to find their own way back to Miami. What wheels there were have just totally come off that team. Lake Erie weather conditions or not.

I remember being fed up with MLB in the early 1990's when the average player salary hit 1 million.
But after last night, all I could think of was: how can you even put a dollar amount on a guy like that?
