The Dolphins finally "parted ways" with GM Chris Grier but kept coach McDaniel (for now).
The way Grier had been able to hang onto his job despite all the failures over many years, I figured McDaniel would go first, or they'd both go at once.
Florida is now a league leader in coaches having leverage over GM's. Jags coach Liam Coen conditionally said no to the Jax job at first, which triggered the long overdue departure of GM Trent Baalke.
It's the pro franchise corollary of what Churchill said about Americans in general: eventually doing the right thing after exhausting all other options.

LSU and AD Scott Woodward are parting ways in the wake of the Brian Kelly firing, according to reports.
I cannot understand why Woodward isn't staying put at LSU on the heels of what the Mensa fellow governor of Louisiana said at a press conference yesterday that was called to address questions about hunger in the Bayou State amid the ongoing government shutdown.

Justin Herbert's stock was so low before the season among fantasy football pundits. Everybody thought he'd spend the whole season handing the ball off. Instead he leads the league with 2,140 passing yards and is tied for third with 16 passing touchdowns. Upsets I like: Giants over 49ers at home. The Chiefs are favored by 2.5 over the Bills on the road, a line I agree with after watching Patrick Mahomes, Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce on Monday night. I don't see how anyone stops that offense ever. Yahoo's pickem herd favors Buffalo 68% to 32%.

I wondered if there would ever be an antivenom for coach Tommy Tuberville getting into politics.
Up stepped Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, who was asked about the LSU Athletic Director and the selection of the Tigers next football coach.
"I can tell you right now, Scott Woodward is not selecting the next coach," Landry said. "Hell, I'll let Donald Trump select it before I let him do it."

Speaking of Turnstile and recent releases, give the Citric Dummies' "Split With Turnstile" a listen next time you feel like putting your brain in a Punk n' Roll blender for twenty minutes.
Turnstile themselves are in no way involved (as far as I can tell), but I've been listening to it at least once a day since it came out. It's great.

The Jays continue to make me go "my goodness".
And maybe it wasn't such a great thing for LA that Ohtani reached base 9 times the night before.

I fell asleep on the couch in I'm not sure what inning, but I woke up right before Freeman hit his walk-off. Very happy to see the Jays bounce back last night. These last two or three games should be be fun!

I made it to the 15th inning before calling it a night. What a series!
I thought about bed after 11th, 13th, 16th, but dug deep and got the complete game.
For those interested in such matters, Game 4 was 3 hours & 45 minutes shorter (9 innings fewer, as well).

I clung to hope, feeling that under the circumstances, the Jays really had to win that game.
Worried that the Dodgers have more they can draw on as the teams try to recover from last night.
Wouldn't surprise me if Ohtani went out and threw a landmark game tonight.

These two paragraphs from tommybiden's link are delicious that ends with an amazing chef's kiss:
Buyout totals are subject to change in certain circumstances; for example, if Kelly or Franklin land new jobs, the schools that fired them owe them less money. Napier's contract with Florida, on the other hand, did not include offset language, and half of his buyout is owed to him within 30 days of his firing.
Kelly's buyout is the second largest in college football history, behind Texas A&M's record $76 million buyout of Jimbo Fisher in 2023. Both coaches were hired by current LSU athletic director Scott Woodward, who ran the Texas A&M athletic department from 2016 to 2019.

It's not like that kind of money is needed elsewhere like feeding families on SNAP that are about to lose that program because the majority party of this country claims that the minority party are the ones that actually control government. (Murc's Law proven yet again! [The Democratic Party is the only one with agency in the government so everything is their fault.]) /sigh Just gonna sit over here and listen to this Wednesday song for the rest of the day.

I'm sure there's got to be a "actively looking for a new coaching job and when you do get a new coaching job, our payments to you cease" clause in these contracts?
