Knowing there are quite a few dedicated SpoFites in the Detroit area, I feel obliged to remind you that the Baseball Hall of Fame's travelling exhibit "Baseball As America" is making its final stop at the Henry Ford Museum. (I have to concede the "obligation" could be construed as ego and blatant self-promotion since I worked on the exhibit, but despite my efforts it really is a great show. The stuff I did was crap, but easy to overlook.)

I worked with the video production team on the video and multi-media exhibits. Please don't go to see my stuff -- go to see the exhibit. It's the best thing I've ever seen in a museum, my garbage notwithstanding. I wouldn't have mentioned my connection to the exhibit at all, but the URL on my profile links to my totally lame company site, through which my affiliation is apparent. I don't want to appear to be trying to hide any agenda -- I stand to gain nothing from greater attendance at this exhibit, save the satisfaction of knowing that I was part of something popular as well as wicked cool.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 06:06 PM on March 24, 2006
YYM -- I didn't ignore you. I was so irate I threw my computer out the window. Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean I didn't respond. WFJ -- as a new dad, you have a lot on your shoulders now. You need to behave responsibly. This does not include provoking people who are clearly irrational and unstable. As for your cousin... '80s Cornell QB, huh? Next time he gets a colonoscopy, could you have them check to see if Greg Manusky's cleat is still in there. He would like it back. (Maybe you know Cornell beat Colgate in the ECAC hockey tourney semi-finals last Friday -- you are just pushing ALL my buttons...) So much abuse... no good deed goes unpunished. Reminds me of a story. For a Baseball As America display on different pitch grips, the HOF used my hands for example images (I was the closest thing they could find to an actual pitcher... which, I know, sounds absurd... they're the Hall of Freakin' Fame... but Cooperstown is kind of remote, even for Hall of Famers). For the unveiling of the exhibit, the Hall had an invite-only event that included all the living HOFers. I happened to be standing behind Phil Neikro when he saw the grip display and immediately exclaimed, "That is the worst knuckleball I have ever seen. Who holds a ball like that?" Worst knuckleball ever. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.
