George Michael Sports Machine My local guy growing up. Had a phone line we would call to get sports scores. Sucked when you came in just after the score you wanted was read and you had to wait for it to loop around.

beaverboard, according to this ESPN article, "The Patriots were able to forgo the standard NFL hiring process and immediately hire Mayo because they established a succession plan in the contract extension he signed last offseason, similar to what the Baltimore Ravens did with their general manager position when Eric DeCosta succeeded Ozzie Newsome in 2019."

First I have heard that Arsenal overpaid for Podolski, especially since, like all Arsenal business, the fee was undisclosed. Podolski, the youngest player ever to reach 100 caps for a national team, and at 27, in the prime of his playing career, seems like a great signing to me.
No mention of Oliver Giroud or Santi Cazorla, and the latter is considered an even bigger signing than Podolski. Again, 27, in his prime, plays with both feet, attacking midfielder. Awesome signing.
Giroud, 25, the highest scorer last season in France in Ligue 1, is Andy Carroll tall without the awkwardness and a much better first touch.
Fuck van Persie. Go get less playing time behind that Hobbit, Rooney, at Manchester United.

Boston Globe's Patriots/NFL writer, Greg Bedard, doesn't think Mike Wallace is smart enough to play for Patriots:
Wallace may be on the trade block, but don't dream too much about him coming to the Patriots. Pittsburgh won't want to face him, and a trading team would have to give up picks and a big contract. Plus, who even knows if Wallace can grasp the Patriots' offense?When asked by some idiot on Twitter to elaborate, he responds.

In my experience in these things if you say you are doing these things for altruistic reasons you may still get people who think you are making a moral decision for them. So my opinion is that if you decide not to run it to just say you don't have time and leave it at that. But I don't know your group. Good luck.

There are a great many things that bother me about the decision in the Terry case. One of them is that by agreeing with Terry's assertion that he simply was repeating what Ferdinand said, the judge is saying that Ferdinand lied all the way to court. I find it hard to believe that.
Also, if this is the result of cameras on the pitch, then I see no hope for goal line technology in football.

And I still think that there are some very good beers made by Boston Brewing Company. They have won more awards in international beer-tasting competitions in the last five years than any other brewery in the world. They are the most well-known but they still account for less than 1% of the U.S. beer market.
The Brewers' Association considers Boston Beer Co a craft brewery; in fact, the Brewer's Assoc. is where Boston Beer Company got their bulletpoints that folks disparaged above.
Plus, in 2008, during the worldwide shortage of hops they shared 20,000 pounds of its hops, at cost, with craft brewers throughout the United States.
Keep on hatin' if you must, but Jim Koch is one of the good guys, and BBC makes some damn good beers.

Howard_T, Sam Adams does actually fall in the "craft" brew category despite having a large distribution network. On their website they state the case as it is defined:
========================
An American Craft Brewer is defined as being Small, Independent and Traditional.
SMALL - Annual production of beer less than 6 million barrels.
INDEPENDENT - Less than 25% of the Craft Brewery is owned or controlled (or equivalent economic interest) by an alcoholic beverage industry member who is not themselves a Craft Brewer.
TRADITIONAL - A brewer who has either an all malt flagship (the beer which represents the greatest volume among that brewery's brands) or has at least 50% of its volume in either all malt beers or in beers which use adjuncts to enhance rather than lighten flavor.
========================
Their most widely know beers like Boston Lager are ok brews, and certainly better then the InBev crap, but if you get a chance, try some of their smaller batch stuff. I recently brewed a clone of the Third Voyage 2x IPA. Yummy stuff.
Looks like you are relatively close to me ... and even closer today as I drive to Topsham to help a friend move some things from a farm she is selling.
On the 21st I will be attending the Vermont Brewers' Festival for the 3rd straight year and am wicked excited. Don't look up this event on the web as Google is reporting the site has malware or something on it :( I just contacted my friend who is a past president of the organisation and asked him to see if he can pass that on to whomever does their website.
Lastly, since Dear Leader, rcade, hasn't gotten around to adding social networks from this century to our profiles, so I wanted to ask if others are using Untappd? I know Ufez Jones is. I am terrapin over there.

apoch, as bperk noted above "Keeping the volume down on the tv sucks because there is a lot going on that I do want to hear."
I don't watch tennis, but I do watch a great deal of soccer/football, and it drives me batty when certain groups of fans [looking at you Barcelona supports] whistle whenever the opposing team has the ball. I couldn't give a rat's patootie about the commentators speaking, but I generally like to hear crown noise when I watch an event. My TV has a 1/2 mute feature which can come in handy at times, but these whistles are so high-pitched they make some matches unwatchable to me.

My analogy would be if your team was up 35-0 in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl and after a touchdown you did an elaborate TD dance and all of the players on the sideline joined you. I still say it showed a lack of class.

I made a couple of comments to the wife when we were watching, which promptly "jinxed" things. I said "I am surprised that Italy isn't diving as much as I recall" only to have and Italian player dive and writhe around just before half time for 4 minutes ... and the ref only add 1 minute of time. It became the tactic at the end of the game to, whenever Germany started pressing forward, a player would stop that momentum with a well-timed dive.
I was about to rethink my hatred of the Italian side, but now I don't have to.
I also said "surprisingly there haven't been [m]any offsides," and then there were 2 or 3 in succession near the end of the match.
I will watch the final on Sunday, but I expect a lot of theatrics with these two sides, which is unfortunate. I just hope it doesn't go to penalties.

Redknapp is an arrogant prick, who is known for saving clubs on the brink. He had a crap 2012, but he seems to invite that stuff. Every post game interview I hear is mostly him trying to be funny. I have been saying it since Capello stepped down that Sp*rs downfall began with Redknapp being distracted by his wish to manage England, and I have to believe his ego got in the way of the club finishing better.
As an Arsenal supporter I am more worried about a Sp*rs team managed by almost anyone else but Harry, although I laugh at the idea of Klinsmann leaving the US national team gig to London to manage his old club.
