Germany Shows Greece Who's Boss: With goals by Philipp Lahm, Sami Khedira, Miroslav Klose and Marco Reus, Germany defeated Greece 4-2 in the second Euro 2012 quarterfinal Friday. Greece put a brief scare into Germany with a 55th minute equalizer by Georgios Samaras that made the score 1-1, but after the Khedira goal five minutes later they could find no relief.

The Greeks even needed help from Germany in getting both of their goals. Geez.

I thought that second Greece goal was a brilliant counterattack.

Games like this one and performances like we saw from Ireland make me wish this tournament would stay at 16 teams rather than being expanded to 24 as is the plan by Platini, I believe. Yes, there were some nervous moments for Germany after the Greek equalizer, but all in all, I didn't think it was worthy of a quaterfinal of a major tournament.

The Greeks did just enough with their equaliser to knock the Germans into a higher gear. Perhaps the remaining teams in the competition might think there's the potential to score on counterattacks, but they also saw a side with plenty of ways to score against you.

I thought the imposed austerity measures by the German team were a bit much. Having to give up two more goals just to get a first goal? I think most Greek fans would vote against that.
