The Bears almost got him for Orton and this years 1st and 3rd picks. Then the Redskins got involved which upped the ante. Jerry Angelo decided to grow a set of balls and added next year's #1 to sweeten the deal. As a lifetime Bears fan, I am personally thrilled to welcome Jay here, it's been almost 25 years since we've had a Pro Bowl QB.

Johnny Red Kerr led the Bulls to the playoffs in their 1st season in 1966-67 led by guard Guy Rodgers. I only met the man once, in 1986 I was the Caddie Master at Medinah Country Club just west of Chicago. I was posting the new men's handicaps in the locker room, when I turned around Red was there, naked as a jaybird, big enough to have his own zip code ! I'll never forget that moment as long as I live..

Jay Mariotti has been absolutely ripping Ozzie Guillen and the White Sox the past couple years. The worst thing is, he NEVER shows up in the clubhouse to face those he rips on a daily basis. So I say as Ebert so eloquently stated "Don't let the door hit you in the ass".

Would love to see the White Sox take a chance on Bonds. Jim Thome is just not ripping the ball anymore and the Sox have a legit opportunity to go deep in postseason play.

It's hard to fly without the right birds. D'Antoni is now the 3rd highest paid coach in the NBA with the absolute worst talent and worst attitudes of any players in the league. Good luck, Mike. Greed is good, right?

Good case in point came during yesterday's Sox-Mariners game. Jim Thome hit a ball towards the shortstop, the barrel of his bat went flying at and just barely missed the pitcher. The pitcher had turned to his right to possibly field the ball and never saw his potential death approaching from the left. Even my father-in-law yelled "Damn !" and he can barely see anymore. Someone is going to die or be seriously injured very soon unless something is done.

As a Cardinal fan, I of course loved to see him pitch. It was, however, very sad to see him in the mid 70's when his skills were diminishing. I cannot think of another player who took over a World Series the way he did in '64 and '67, talk about performing well under pressure.

You want to talk underwhelmed, let's talk 'bout those BlackHawks. This once proud franchise is ignored, especially in Chicago. It has been run (into the ground) by the ownership of Dollar Bill Wirtz and the general incompetence of Bob Pulford. Whomever they draft would be wise to sign no more than a 3 year contract, then get the hell out. You can't tell I'm bitter, can you?

Donovan made the right choice. His players actually listen to him now, unlike the multi-millionaire prima donna's he would have coached in Orlando. This will definitely help Florida recruiting knowing he's there for the next 5 years. I tip my hat to you, Billy Donovan for realizing the horror you were in for and for staying where you are successful.

The Redskins wanted Lance Briggs of the Bears, another franchise player who is pissed. I still there is a small chance of getting that one done, otherwise Briggs has threatened to do the same thing Samuel is. I really do understand why they don't want the franchise tag, what if they get hurt? Then they truly are screwed, never gonna see the guaranteed big $$.

The Blackhawks are virtually ignored in Chicago thanks to their owner, "Dollar" Bill Wirtz. The Hawks are not on TV in Chicago and never sell out the United Center anymore. It's very sad to see an original NHL franchise run so poorly. Getting the first choice will not make a hoot of a difference, they will screw it up I guarantee.

Kansas City HAD the Scouts in the early 70's & they were gone in a heartbeat. I believe hockey should retract 3-4 teams to help the rest survive. I know here in Chicago no one cares about the Blackhawks much anymore, which is sad. The old Chicago Stadium used to rock game after game, sellout after sellout.

My brother was filled with hatred (mainly for Chinese for some reason) and I always told him whoever you hate will end up in your family. Your daughter will show up some day with Hop Sing and announce her plans to wed. Anyways, I wish prejudice, bigotry, and hatred would simply go away very soon.

This is totally unrelated, sorry. After the Bears-Saints game, a local Chicago news man was outside Soldier Field talking with fans. Of course a big deal was made about Lovie Smith being the first African-American coach to go to a Super Bowl. The news guys sticks his microphone in the face of a fan and says "Do you love the black man?" "You gotta love the black man". Can you only imagine a reverse situation where the Bears coach was white and the guy was going on about loving the white man? He would have been out of there like shit through a goose. I NEVER hear, for instance, about Irish-American coach Mike McCarthy of the Packers or anything other than African-American this or that. It's 2007, people, isn't it just about time to give up this racism shit? I vote for yes.

My brother passed away 3 years ago and HATED Albert Belle when he played here for the White Sox. All the useless home runs late in the game when no one was on base drove him batty. Once Belle hit one when the Sox were losing 8-1 in the top of the 9th and he said "There's Belle rounding second looking for a white woman to sodomize". Needless to say, I fell out of my seat onto the floor......God I miss my brother.

When I was 12 or 13, I loved the Blackhawks. They were on every Saturday night and my brother and I watched. Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Pit Martin, Tony Esposito, etc.....We knew every player on every team. Now, the NHL is out of control with teams in markets that don't deserve one. "Dollar" Bill Wirtz still owns the Hawks, and they haven't been on free TV in decades. And you know what, I no longer care. They would have to pay ME to go to a game. Right now, I cannot name 3 players on the Hawks, never mind other teams. So until Wirtz dies or no longer owns the Hawks, we in Chicagoland are being deprived. Sad....
