Blackhawks win lottery.: Chicago won the NHL draft lottery Tuesday, giving the Blackhawks a reason to celebrate after missing the playoffs for the eighth time in nine seasons. The Blackhawks, who will pick first in the June draft, had the fifth worst record and only an 8.1 percent chance to come out on top in the lottery.

It's a draft year with no consensus #1, for sure. "The Hawks will likely consider four prospects, all forwards, as the No. 1 pick: Pat Kane of the London Knights, Jakub Voracek of the Halifax Mooseheads, Kyle Turris of Burnaby in the B.C. Jr. A League and James vanRiemsdyk of the U.S. U-18 program. Kane would be considered the favorite at this point. " link early draft rankings here, but not much info. More Canadians than in recent years. Another Esposito inbound? Wiki has a lot of information, including comparative rankings and links to stats

The Blackhawks are virtually ignored in Chicago thanks to their owner, "Dollar" Bill Wirtz. The Hawks are not on TV in Chicago and never sell out the United Center anymore. It's very sad to see an original NHL franchise run so poorly. Getting the first choice will not make a hoot of a difference, they will screw it up I guarantee.

Too bad the Hawks can't draft a new owner. My frustration and contempt for the Blaakhawks organization has trickled down to the entire league. For the first time that I can remember I am completely apathetic towards the NHL and it's just killing me. I'm unsure if I will even tune into the playoffs. Sorry. Self pity party has ceased. Carry on. On preview: what wdminott said.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I don't even think this is gonna help them out they need a star like Crosby but even if they get someone like that they'll probably end up getting rid of him in a few years I'm sick of the Hawks and I'm still a fan go figure

Quote on the front page of the Phila Inquirer Sports section: "You'd think in a year when we were crappy, there would be a top player int he draft. But it's not a great draft. We can't lose to win." -Former Flyers exec Ron Ryan on Feb. 3rd Flyers GM Paul Holmgren says there isn't much of a difference between one and two, but says it's still disappointing to end up with the second pick.

Hey, Doc or Grum, can we get some kind of pick 'em going for how the Blackhawks will manage to fuck up having the No. 1 overall? Because they will somehow, man ... they just will.

The Blackhawks have Golden State Warrior-esque luck when it comes to the draft. This year's NHL draft could easily be conducted by random drawing of the top 5 or 6 names and any of them could end up being the best player in that draft. Joe Smith anyone?

Forgive my ignorance, but is there any can't-miss player at the top of the draft charts this season?
