All a potential team needs to think is, "How marketable is this guy?" The answer will get him drafted in the top few spots. How many of his jerseys will sell? How many more season tickets will sell?
Think of Vick when he went to Falcons... Think of the Tebow affect in Denver and now NY.
He may never win a Superbowl and may not be, at the beginning or the end, of his NFL career a great NFL QB but he is marketable for sure.

Well, I don't have much knowledge outside of Philly parks, but I can speak to their selections... Which have improved vastly over the past 5 years or so... Now they have any number of places most of which serve a variety of beers on tap or bottle. Most are in the range you listed here (around $7) but also have those premium which I clearly prefer.

Reid's been adamant all along that there's never been a Vick vs. Kolb quarterback controversy. By now, I agree with him -- Vick has clearly earned that job.
That's a great line.... Seriously, I can't imagine Kolb doing any better. I'm a Philly fan and I figured from the beginning it would be Vick's job by there bye week (week8).

Here in Philly thats all that has been talked about over the past few days... St. Louis and Buffalo were also mentioned.
I don't see how McNabb would want to go to any of these teams... The issue is, his contract is done the end of this year and they have Kolb and Vick, so do they keep McNabb for the next bit after trying to resign him or switch over to Kolb/Vick and go from there?
If they can get good value for McNabb [high draft pick(s)] then I think its a good move.

Here is a different perspective... I have never been to an NFL game and I really don't plan on going to one (unless I come across some of those free tickets dviking has enjoyed) anytime soon.
I have followed my local team (Eagles) and several others for years and since I got DirecTV a few years ago, I am even less likely to attend. The picture, coverage, and comfort of my own home do not lend themselves to making the switch to paying money, enduring the elements, fighting traffic, and 'slightly warm beer'.
And Goodell is just now wondering if fans will "figure out it's more comfortable to watch at home". ?

The point I was trying to make by mentioning the autographs is that fans like this girl take the fun out of the game by focusing solely on monetary value.
You really think she is taking the fun out of baseball? A 12 year old girl who legitimately got a ball that was hit into the stands is doing this? How about the Phillies staffer who decided to go make an underhanded trade with a 12 year old girl for a valuable ball, what is it that he was doing?

I also think about what they really accomplished while playing, and I don't know that either really did anything to stand out.

holden - I agree I think this is more of an 'atta boy, rather than any kind of salary increase. And its only for player(s) that did a good job for that one game. We have a similar thing here at work where a person who did a good job on a project or an had an innovative idea is given a $50 gift certificate in front of the rest of the team. The $50 isn't that big of a deal, but it's nice to be recognized. For the multimillionaire's in baseball today, I don't see where this fits in. If they can't find a reason to be motivated while making $100,000 or more PER game, then they are in the wrong business.

I wouldn't get too pumped if I was an Eagles fan. The fact that they only beat the Giants by 3 is pretty sad. And even if they do make the bowl, the Pats, Ravens, Colts, Chargers (take your pick) will destroy them. So, Philly, be prepared for some dissapointment of your own. Antwan: Us Philly fans are just happy they made it after a really odd season. The chances of getting anywhere from here on is slim, but its better than a lot of other teams that have already cleaned out there lockers!

I remember a guy in college doing something similar back in the early ninties... Am I imagining things? Wouldn't this play also be a possible 'high-sticking' call if the stick goes above the crossbar? Not sure how I feel about it overall to tell you the truth... Maybe this is a start of a new way to play the game... Remember, a 'slap-shot' was not originally a part of the game, and neither was a face mask....

And the Leafs and Canadiens aren't too far either... And redsoxrgay: When the Whalers went to Carolina they had some talent... And Giguere. I have to say im one of the few that likes hockey first, and nfl second... I also have a degree and have attended a few nascar races... (nothing like the partying at Talladega!!) But Hockey in any form is my favorite.... Also, Im surprised noone has mentioned the effect of fantasy sports in these numbers... Especially if they are solely based in tv ratings... And with fantasy football being the most popular (and best) that has to be helping them... And, one last thing... The attendence numbers mentioned above are a bit skewed, the per game numbers should all be doubled. If 30 teams play hockey on a given day, then there are 15 games played, not 30. Therefore, the attendance should look like this: mlb 30028 Total games played/season 2430 162 games per team nba 17319 Total games played/season 1230 82 games per team nhl 16533 Total games played/season 1230 82 games per team nfl 67593 Total games played/season 256 16 games per team My appoliges to ninja, who did say they weren't responsible for the math...
