So, the matchups for the conference finals, if you haven't been paying attention, are:

Pittsburgh vs Boston
Chicago vs Los Angeles

Let's see them picks...

Pittsburgh in 6 - Marchand scores 9 but the Bruins still lose (ratings on a dive don't mean diddly in a playoff series)

Chicago in 7 - Although if the Kings are allowed to tackle the Hawks best players all series ala Detroit it could go the other way in less games

Pens in 5(unless there is a conspiracy for Boston to win athe cup after the bombing to make them feel good, then Bruins in 7) but Pens in 5 is my pick

Bruins in [4-7], ah, what the hell, make it 6 (I've yet to get the number of games correct)

Blackhawks in 5.

I had an awful second round, Pittsburgh played way better than I thought they would and the Rangers played way worse. That being said....

Pens in 6 Kings in 7

Penguins in 6 Kings in 7

Damn did I fall off the table in this round!

Since I missed making 2nd round picks while I was on vacation, I'm just going to go ahead and bow out of this competition.

Penguins in 6
Blackhawks in 7

I like that it's the last four Stanley Cup champs remaining.
That breaks a streak of 9 straight different champions.

MeatSaber, something is radically wrong with your computation of the standings. It is not possible for me to be anywhere near the top of the standings, let alone ahead of the pack, at this stage of a pick-em. However, I will not demand a recount; rather I will enjoy it while it lasts, for I fear it will not be long.

I have one fearless prediction: A team wearing black and gold will be in the Stanley Cup finals. I am absolutely certain of that. For the rest, who knows? Let's start in the east. Boston scared the crap out of me against Toronto, and I had them falling to the Rangers. Thanks to some interesting play by Rangers' goaltending in games 1 & 2 (not to mention Rask's adventures in game 4), and the fact that Bruins turned up their hitting and intensity while maintaining discipline, the series vs New York was pretty much one-sided. Pittsburgh is another kettle of fish, and one that is not likely to become chowdah for Boston. Saying that, I guess my heart has to rule my brain here. Boston has the physical defense and size among the forwards to handle the Pens' attack. I rate Bruins' depth as equal to Pittsburgh's, but can the Penguins' scoring be contained? Bruins are believing in themselves, they have solid leadership in the room and on the ice, and this is the real upset special of the playoffs: Bruins in 7.

Chicago is another team that seemed ready to spend too much time reading its press clippings and not enough time playing hockey. Detroit gave them all they could handle, and this could serve to wake up the Blackhawks. What I have seen of the Kings leads me to believe that there is some vulnerability there. LA's success is dependent upon Johnathan Quick putting in a top performance. He has done that with great regularity so far, but I feel his defense will leave him out to dry a few times too often. Since an Original 6 cup final would be something to treasure, I'll take Chicago in 5.

Sorry, I was out of town at a wedding. If these series have started--which I assume they have--I have not yet seen any of the results.
