I like Davis. If Houston would pass on Reggie Bush, why trade for Brown? I think he'd run for about 1800 yards in Denver. Just a thought.

modern culture dictates in this situation, a player with a national following wants to donate profits from his jersey sales. strict dogmatic evaluation of out of date rules dictate he cannot do it in the most effective way possible. please show me the up-side of that.

As for the problems with the refs, why don't college refs have this problem. It really is the no fun league. These damn executives are a bunch of old, white men who do not have the faintest clue about modern culture.(By the way I'm a white guy, just not old yet. I'll still be cool for at least five more min.)

No offense Snikastyle, but are you insane??? Morrison #1 overall??? The kid was a great college player, and will probably be a solid pro. (I'm thinking Keith Van Horn) However he is nowhere near athletic enough to spend a #1 overall pick on. Dickie V and Billy Packer lied to you; Morrison is not the second coming of Larry Bird.

One of the stranger things I've seen on a ballfield, but by no means the strangest. From watching the play and hearing Barret's comments in the post game, along with his deamenor, my judgement on this one is that Barret had a total brainfart. A.J. made a solid, clean yet physical play. Barret wigged out. It happens. I actually don't mind a donney-brook in my hardball every now and again. (Almost reminds me of hockey)

This is another example of the wussifacation of this country. People now seem to think that throwing a punch is some kind of earth shattering event. I have played hoops at playgrounds all over my city, I have been hit with punches and thrown them myself; amazingly enough the world didn't end and no one needed to call the authorities. For "fans" of competition who are so off put by violence, take my advice and become a fan of competitive checkers.

Regarding Johnson's obligations, you might want to check out Nash v. Mulle. The case is an interesting read and if I'm correct Johnson may be getting off lightly. (Sorry, cannot find a link, but the case exsists. In fact I just finished reading it for an exam next week. If someone can find a link that would be great.)

Thank You Wingnut4life!!!!! Go Blue!!! The Heisman pose in the end zone is the coolest thing I've ever seen. Close second: Howard's grab in the corner of the end zone against Notre Dame, on forth down and one!!! That play marked the birth of the modern style pro offense Michigan has today. Go Blue!!!

O.K. here is a wild idea. Since at the time most people are discussing baseball didn't have a steriod policy, Bud Selig himself could have shot up Barry Bonds with roids and it wouldn't matter as far as the record book goes. And people that want to say steroids were ILLEGAL, has anyone else ever had records stripped for breaking LAWS that were not against the rules of baseball?
posted by Fade222 at 09:51 PM on March 09, 2006
If there is no rule against it, it is not cheating!!!!!!!!!!!!! If somebody wants to pursue this through the legal system that is another matter. Anyone wanting to change the record book had better stop and look up the defininition of cheating.

I am a die-hard Michigan fan. This season was a did not live up to the expectations of many of the fans that follow Michigan every season. However with regards to this season in all of the years I have been watching football I have never seen a team so devestated by injuries as this and yet still come to play hard every Saturday. At one time or another this season 4 starting offensive line men were out. All Big Ten runningback Mike Hart missed several games. The starting tight end missed a few games and played a few more with a massive cast on his hand(he is a pass catching tight end). Also they had injuries to the recieving corps. All everything wide reciever/kick returner Steve Breaston missed games and was at much less than full speed for most of the year. Top flight recruit Doug Dutch missed the entire season. Yet dispite all of these injuries, they were in every single game they played until the very last drive of the game. The also beat America's sweetheart Joe Pa and Penn State. Do I think they are more deserving of a New Years game than a team like Oregon? No, but they are more deserving than Iowa, a team Michigan beat. What blows my mind is that Coach Carr suggests the very thing that I see nearly everyone on this site clamoring for, and cites the reason that many people cite for that desire, and you people throw him under the bus. I would thank that people interested in a playoff would be fricking jumping for joy that a well respected coach at a top flight, yet well respected program has joined your cause.

OK again I'm ready to get tossed under the bus for this one. As important an issue as race is, I think in this country it obscures another issue. Class and economic standing is what's really important in this country. Have black people got a raw deal? Sure they have, but the poor white kid in rural Kentucky or Indiana or urban Chicago or Detroit have got a raw deal that's just as bad. I really wish people would see that race is an issue that the people in power use to divide us, then reap the rewards that America can offer while we're all fighting amungst ourselves. Black people the enemy isn't white people per say and white people the enemy isn't black people. If you want to be pissed at someone be pissed at corporate executives that lay off workers while taking a pay raise. Be pissed at your government for reforming bankruptcy laws for the average person, but gives corporate wellfare to large multinational companies that are in the process of sending YOUR job overseas. It's all about money in this country and everyone except the people at the top are getting screwed.

Would I like to see TO just play ball(with a few end zone dances thrown in)? Sure, of course I would. But the level of hatred for this guy is unreal. Have any of the people in Washington read a history book or even a newspaper. The way you defeat communism is to bombard it with capitalism. Worked against the Soviets is starting to work with China. Isolating it is counter productive, because it allows it to operate without being as subject to forces of the market. The ignorance of our elected officials countinues to boggle the mind.

Artest isn't the first NBA player to have a SERIOUS meltdown. Latrell Spreewell did, and he came back and took the Knicks to the finals. Also if you disregard his "I need to feed my family" crap, he seems to have been a pretty solid citizen, who plays hard and leaves it all on the floor. Does this mean Artest would do the same thing? No, but it isn't like it would be unprecedented.

Artest is a heck of a small forward and if I rooted for anyone but Detroit I'd want him on my team. The brawl at the Palace doesn't have anything to do with that though, I just happen to like our front line the way it is.

Let me state for the record that I HATE the salary cap. It is just a way to make sure that most of the teams have meaningful games late into the year, as a means to maximize revenue. It rewards being mediocre. I personally like watching high caliber teams rather than the mess we have now. This is why I will be rooting for the Colts come playoff time (Lions have no shot) And please don't get into the small market big market debate all of these owners have more money than all of us put together will see in a lifetime. Some, without the cap would choose to spend it on the product others ala Bidwell will pocket it. Just something to think about, which teams were more fun to watch, the 80's 90's 49ers and Cowboys, or the Superbowl winning Ravens and Bucs. SALARY CAP = COMMUNISM

I always hear that the agressive play, and especially the fighting are a turn off to American fans. Why would that be? We are one of the most violent countries on earth. Would I like to see every student do very well in class? Of course I would, that's just not realistic though. So why further penalize someone that, since they have academic difficulties is going to have a hard enough time as is.
