Its getting scary when someone that does the honest thing and calls himself out gets so much press... Are we falling into that kind of society that doing what we older folks as kids were raised to do is a big story... I understand his embarrasement for getting so much attention... Bottom line people, he followed the rules... to some, they still mean something...
I have to say I am happy that he is getting to play some tournaments by doing the right thing... As they say, good things come to those who are honest? LOL....

I personally am looking forward to watching this series... I can honestly say I haven't watch the past couple of years... Boring!!! Same teams in there... Watching the Rays win game 7 after letting Boston back in it in game 5 made me a fan... New blood, young talent and a payroll that doesn't blow off the top of the charts... Refreshing.. Thanks underdogs... You know we pull for you...

They should have taken a look at Round Rock Stadium that is home field for 2 of the 4 Round Rock Texas high schools share. Beautiful facility, the new turf, great seating, parking and it is equipped with a jumbo-tron screen for all those replays. It is also setup for soccer. The stadium seats 11,000.

Great move on the Cowboys part. Two number one receivers and a number two as the slot receiver. Not to mention one of the best tight ends in the league... Brad Johnson should be foaming at the mouth and defenses should be very nervous because they can't cover all of them.. You double the outside and Crayton and Whitten will eat them alive... We need the offense to stay on the field and the defense will take care of itself... Injuries hurt right now, but everyone goes through that stage... Williams will have a new passion for the game because he got out of a no win situation that has gone on for years... How can you do it every day when you know there is nothing to look forward to because of ownership and management.

My biggest question is, why isn't anybody talking to Victor Degrate about it... Apparently he may be the guy that people need to watch from now on... If he received the bags from the female that Bell gave the bags to and then Johnson gets them back empty... Hmmmm, doesn't take rocket science to figure out who to ask...

I agree the kid should be able to play, somewhere. I am in Texas and they have select baseball for all ages and they play almost year round. The thing that pops ups most in the story is that the defending champion team wanted him. Hmmm, wonder if this would have happened if he played for them. Some of the story is sketchy regarding the league and moving up. Does the league have teams at a higher level, or does he have to go to a different association to play? Some leagues have rules on kids being able to move up and play at a higher level. Thats where select ball comes in, better players at the same age...

It just goes to show that bottom line, these guys are in it for the money... The Clippers made a move to make themselves playoff contenders by brining in Davis... I feel sorry for Davis because he probably signed a multi-year deal and will now be there without the support of Brand... You know when you get up in the 60 to 70 million range does 3 or 4 million mean that much? Most of us will never know...

I am an avid Astro's fan, but the bottom line is they are stinking it up pretty bad right now... I'm sure there are a lot of guys who want to explode right now... The tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife... And thats from the top down... The expectations are in the crapper... I don't think Cooper is the guy for them and over all it isn't a good situation for anybody... Other than Burkman, the players are not performing... The leadoff spot is a revolving door... You have to stick with someone and let them work through it... Both those guys were wrong... Unfortunately, Chacon is the one that will pay the heavy price...

What a kid... A lot of people don't understand the guy, but he is out there having a blast playing a game... Yes they are high paid guys, but he plays it as a game and has fun... Way to go Manny... Thanks for showing people that it is a game....

Sounds like some guys need to take the bad with the good and they aren't. I have always liked Billy Wagner. I followed him with the Astros. If guys aren't stepping up when it is brought up internally, then throw them under the bus... You big money making guys that think you are above everyone. And then to try to make it a racist thing because it is some latin players... When are we going to give that crap a rest. We will never get rid of racism because to many people want to pull that card for any B.S. reason... Its all going into the crapper folks...

I would be willing to bet that Jerry Jones will cover his tail in a contract with PacMan... He will put in there that he will owe him nothing if he gets in trouble with the law and gets booted by the league (that is if he gets back in). It is a shame to read all the news about college and pro players getting in trouble... It appears that college and pro players have too much time and money on their hands or think they are above the law... It makes you wonder who raised these guys... The sad thing that is happening now is parents raising their kids to play sports first and get an education second... Thats what big money brings...

What makes me wonder is if your kid is getting shelled, don't most coaches make a pitching change... duh... Do something to shake things up... And 250 pitches, what the hell... Thats enough to know why the team isn't doing anything... The coach is clueless...

What a great article. Maddux is a class act... He used to drive me crazy when he played for the Braves because I am a diehard Astros fan... It was great to read about the things he knows regarding the game... I hope he leaves when he is ready and doesn't regret it...

It's funny to hear everyone complain about what she is doing. Why doesn't anyone talk about the other WNBA players playing for other countries during the off-season... Oh that's right, they aren't playing against the US. Have our egos gotten so big that we banish anyone for going against us (in a sport)... Her only dream is to play in the Olympics and our country didn't offer until she started working toward playing for someone else (typical of society)... We have a lot of other problems in this country than to worry about that... If we are the elite, then what is anyone worried about. The Russian team only has 1 American. Should that be an issue for us... What about the NBA players that have been here for years that go back and play for their countries. Yes, they may be from that country, but then again, is there that much difference. They don't have problems coming here to take the great American dollar...

Congrats to Kansas... Keep it in the Big 12... I think Calipari got a little lost in the moment and didn't think about calling a time-out to set his defense for the final 10 seconds... Foul Kansas and it puts them on the line and it makes them think about bricking the second free throw to try and get the ball for a 2 pointer... Admitted, it was a tough contested shot that went in for the 3... Have to say with 2.1 left, another time-out should have been called (Memphis had 2 to use) and setup a play... Thats plenty of time to get people where you want them... Lesson learned... Kansas never gave up... They deserve it because of that...

He needs to be respected and remembered for that... Mr. Keightley, I'm sure you will be remembered for years... They should retire jersey number 81 with Mr. Wildcat on the back... I wish him luck... Maybe it is better that he doesn't have returning starters... Lets him start early to rebuild and not have to deal with players that are set in their ways from the old coach... Sampson, not sure about that guy... Getting caught makes you wonder about his past jobs... Dang, when is this sport thing going to change... Its all about the $$$ now... People are raising their kids to concentrate on sports and not the books... Wanting the quick riches...

I thought it was interesting how Emmit and Jerry handled the show. To see a big guy like Taylor tells you how flexible these guys are. They are big athletes that can move. The fact that they are in a violent game doesn't always show how well they can move. I have to agree that maybe Taylor should be getting ready to help a team get back on the winning track may have needed to be at the top of the list, but then again, maybe he thought he wouldn't be around long... Should the NFL cover some of this, yes they should. It would lighten up all the other crap you read about these days about football players. The college ranks are getting to be a discrace to the game with the number of players you read about every day that get in serious trouble, pissing away the scholorships... Thats the future of the NFL if it keeps up... Scarry....

Interesting.... That movie made a lot of people nervous about going into the water for a few years and started the sport of shark fishing... I guess if the sharks can be used for something after they are caught, it is no different than killing beef for meat and other things. Honestly, 46 sharks last year... Is that really a big deal? Hmmmm...

Another situation blown out of proportion. I have seen plenty of pictures of athletes of all colors showing their intense side as well as a big ol smile and showing the fine clothing... Michael Irving, Tom Brady and Deon Sanders come to mind... I guess nobody thought of the way Brett Faure has looked in many pictures (rough and needing a shave). That gets referred to as a country boy... Come on people, we have to let things go and quit looking for a reason to keep innocent things blowing up... We will never move forward on the real issues... I'm sure LeBron viewed the cover and ok'ed it prior to it being used... They can look at the picks instantly now...

Personally, I'm tired of the steroids crap going on, and why does our government need to be involved in something that is happening in private business... I just think we have a lot more problems in this country that warrants our politicians to work on something else... And we wonder why the economy is in such a crappy situation... If these guys want to trash their bodies and wind up with big heads and little winkies, then do it... If cheating is ok with you, then you should be a politician when you retire... lol...

Well at least one of them is a class act. I liked the fact that KG didn't go back and forth with Taylor... He obviously had a good run with the T-wolves over the years and he now can play with a team that can win... Sounds like an owner was ticked for losing a great player that wanted a chance to win...

I tell you what, I will just watch the game and see how it ends... Let the coaches worry about keeping the lead... Watching the game can usually tell you if the trailing team has a chance... If they trail the whole game (say 8 to 10), more than likely, they aren't going to pull it out... Too much science for me... lol...

I watched Sports Center late yesterday and all is well now... There was an hour delay on the game, but everything was worked out... I guess the MLB thought the teams should pick up the tab for coaching staff and trainers... They teams still are for part of it, but at least now the MLB is paying part of it... I'm sure the league is getting a big chunk of change for playing in Japan...

The players on VT will have something to talk about well into their late years. Can you see one of them telling their grandchild how they sat with A-Rod and chatted baseball way back when... A-Rod will be one of those guys that people talk about years after he is done... Great article, great gesture by the Yanks...

You know, this is a time to reflect on how great Brett was. He was a class act on and off the field. When he messed up, he stepped up and told everyone (pain killers). He was a hard worker and loved the game so many of us could only imagine playing. I think its safe to say, first year eligible, he will be inducted to Canton and deservingly... Great career Brett... I was pulling for you after the Cowboys were tossed...

I am a big Astros fan and always have been. I respected the fact that Biggio turned down more money to stay with the Astros. He is a class act off the field as well. There is a lot to be learned from him as a man and a player. He busted his tail and did the right things. There are so many disappointing stories out there right now about guys in trouble for all kinds of things. It has taken away from the joy of sports. As they say, one bad apple... Thanks Biggio for giving me a lot of great years to watch you... Baggs and Berkman too... The money isn't everything... Now Baggs and Biggio can work together on the executive side of the game and enjoy more years staying envolved.

What I don't get is why the city council didn't tell him they would allow it based on a name change. They just took it upon themselves to piss on his dream to start a business because they didn't like a sign that he was going to put up. Ah government, it gets better everyday... Let the Record Be Unbroken
I guess everyone has forgotten about Nolan Ryan's 7 no hitters... That won't be touched... Not with the hitters these days and the way pitching is handled... Starters only plan to go 6 or 7 these days and probably throw harder at the beginning expecting to be done by the 7th and let the bullpen specialists take over..
