Let's Go Crazy: Prince moves Uptown and Controversy follows. 'U Got The Look all wrong', says landlord Carlos Boozer. Prince, (yeah, that Prince), paints the home, (yeah, that color), he is renting for $70,000 a month from Boozer. Boozer sues.

Why would anyone rent a house for $70,000 a month?

Because they can. Ostentatious is the new purple.

Always do a back ground check on the people who are going to rent from you.

Ostentatious is the new purple. Pfpfpf. I'm putting that up on my fridge. Brilliant.

Always do a background check That's right. If Carlos had listened to the Batman soundtrack, he would have evicted Prince immediately for crimes against humanity, as well as against good taste.

Dig, if you will, a picture of Prince & some interior decorator engaged in a remodeling. The thought of new colors overwhelms them; can you, my Spofites, can you picture this? Dream, if you can, ten bedrooms with oceans of violets in bloom. Property lawyers strike curious poses; they feel the heat, the heat between Boozer & Prince. How can Prince leave Carlos standing alone with these colors so bold? Maybe he's he's just too demanding; maybe he's just like his lawyer; too bold. Maybe he's just like his agent; he's always so irate. Why must they scream at each other? This is what it sounds like when tenants decorate.

Methinks chico has a future in the music biz. Chico, could you write me a snappy song about my job to the tune of "Sound of Music"?

Can you see me standing in this ... Purple paint ... purple paint, pu-urple paint ...

cybermac, I don't know how much you like your job; would it make sense to call it "Anal Vice?"

For $70,000 a month, you should be allowed to paint the house whatever color you want. There's some talk going 'round town That you really don't give a damn They say you really put me down When I'm doing the best I can

Brilliant chicobangs! LOL!

$70k/month implies a $14.6 million house (assuming 80% financing at 6% over 30 years). Having seen the overhead pictures of the property and knowing the location, I wouldn't be surprised that the property is worth that much. And it was probably furnished.

What concerns me in all this is neither the cost of the property (ridiculous as it may be) nor the color that Prince has painted it (if that was unforseen then someone clearly wasn't paying attention - esp. if the contract details the event Prince plans to host). What concerns me is that Carlos Boozer can afford such a place. I mean, what is this world coming to when an average pro basketball player can afford a home worth in excess of 10 million dollars? This guy should feel fortunate that someone as esteemed as Prince would spend any time at all in his home, let alone live there, work there, and make it his own. That said, I think it's all a brilliant marketing scheme by Boozer's attorney's to raise awareness of the property being for sale and it's newly found unique characteristics thanks to the legendary Purple One, thereby driving up the resale value! And btw- Chico, very impressive.

I think it's all a brilliant marketing scheme MW's got to the heart of the matter. Besides, how could they possibly prosecute? The man has no name! Just a symbol, and that vague "Artist Formerly Known As"... thing. How would LA County Court call him to the stand?

Oh, he returned to being Prince years ago. And it wouldn't surprise me if the Little Purple Pill was in on this whole thing, and the legal light show is just for the cameras.

Well, I know one thing-the new album '3121' is slammin'!

The real killer wasn't the purple paint, it was the fact that Prince installed plumbing for hair salon chairs. In the master bedroom.

(From the "Seafood" thread) Wow. Talk about being in the zone. It's like watching Jordan. I have a new sports hero.
