Nice Trade Roundup: An article that covers the Winter Meetings and FA signings.

My question is since Cincy traded "Mayor Sean Casey" to Pittsburgh, can Atlanta trade Mayor "Big Shirley" Franklin to someone for a RF? She is originally from Philly. Can we get Bobby Abreau for her?

we need a lot more then Sean Casey, he is probably so pissed

Nothing against the thread or anything, it would better fit into any of those others though rather than making yet another FPP about a baseball signing or trade.

Nothing to knock about this thread either but I'd rather see a round-up of activity after the winter meetings were over

agreed - I keep track of this stuff on a twice daily basis anyway.

steelcityguy, I wouldn't worry about Sean Casey being pissed. He's a class act and I'm sure he will play hard and get some big hits for the Bucs. Hell, the Reds signed Tony Womack. YIPPEE. All that speed and a whopping .316 career OBP. And we picked up Dave Williams. He's got a career 17-26 record with an ERA well over 4. Lookout Cardinals, we're coming to get ya!

Casey's from the Pittsburgh area.

The idea of Cincy adding anything is news to me. Now that Renteria is gone, and that big names like Womack and Soriano have been traded, Manny seems to be the next and last trade this offseason. What dissapointed me is that my Dodgers and Angels both did nothing productive. Also, the already weak free agent market is winding down, and Texas probably cleared Soriano to make way for the Rocket, who seems to be the last remaining big name free agent. There wasa tree-way trade for Manny that a few days ago, but has resurrected over the last 24 hours and is expected to go through, here how it looks like: Dodgers get: Manny Phillies get: D. Lowe Sox get: Bobby Abreu Jimmy Rollins One hell of a trade, it's not a joke. Expected to go through soon. The snag was hit before because the Phillies did not want Lowe, and the Dodgers wanted to put in Odalis Perez istead, but the Phillies did not want him either. This made like this so Lowe does not end up back in Boston. Apprently, the Phillies have caved in their demands and agreed to the trade.

Dodgers get: Manny Phillies get: D. Lowe Sox get: Bobby Abreu Jimmy Rollins The only team that looks good for is the Red Sox ... the Phillies would have to be completely out of their gourds to pull the trigger on that steaming pile of monkey shit deal.

i'd love to see it joe, but i'm skeptical. besides, lowe was so much better once he moved over on the rubber towards the end of the season, so i'm not sure i want to move him out of an already shaky rotation. manny's stats have gone down every year for a while... then again he's still productive and the dodgers need an outfield bat in the worst way. i hope you're right.

double posting is very tacky, but here's something off espn about that trade joe.. :( Dec 8 - There was talk of a three-way deal that would have sent Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers, but it fell apart, ESPN's Peter Gammons reports. Ramirez would have gone to Los Angeles for J.D. Drew, Derek Lowe and a pitching prospect. Lowe, Trot Nixon and a prospect would have gone to Philadelphia for Bobby Abreu. The Red Sox earlier told Gammons that Ramirez will not be traded this week because such a deal would be too complicated and take too much time to sort out.

Let me give you my opionion, althoug this might seem like old news. The thing is that Manny wants to be an LA Angel, the other team. I think he will turn down a trade to any team other than the Angels, even if the Dodgers trade somehow does get fixed.

Sweet, the O's just landed Ramon Hernandez! The guy's a gamer and it'll allow them to move Javy to first where some guy named Rafael used to play.

The snag was hit before because the Phillies did not want Lowe, and the Dodgers wanted to put in Odalis Perez istead, but the Phillies did not want him either. Because there is one thing that teams do, is cave into deals that they don't like because they've got nothing else to do. The Dodgers get a great player, and trade a good player. The Red Sox get TWO great players and trade a great player. The Phillies get a player they don't really want and trade two great players? I'm guessing a Red Sox fan made up that deal.

I'm guessing a Red Sox fan made up that deal. That's my guess ... this one was made up in the land of rainbows and fairies and happy RedSox thoughts. Very unlikely. Something very roughly resembling some of the players in this deal may eventually materialize ... if it happens as described above, the Phillies have: a/ made some bad investments on the NYSE and have to sell to cover a margin call. or b/ completely lost their minds.

you guys are all wrong... the thing that makes the most sense about that trade is that the phillies did something idiotic and beyond explanation. maybe pat doesn't deserve that just yet but years of wade have soured me.

At least, y'all got something to talk about. Cardinal Nation gets to grouse about arbitration for "Matty Schmo". Think my pants are at the ankles waiting for a .500 "pitcher" to lob that three-run, sixth inning BP bang he'll give up to Milwawkee on a meaningless July Wednesday night? Giants fans, you have NO IDEA what you're missing! Essentially EIGHT MILLION reasons to check out TNT reruns of "Law and Order", baby! My kid would say, "Poopski, Dad"!
