The worst hockey logos ever. Sort of a hall of fame of loopy designs.
Excellent link there gspm. It made me laugh out loud a few times, which got me some funny looks in the office, but what the hell.

There is no way that Macon Whoopee team really exists... Great link!

Lord, this is a fantastic link! My guess is that the Macon Whoopee team is a rec team that came up with that logo and slapped it online somewhere. Notice it's lacking a league. I went to Baylor while the Waco Wizards were there. That logo haunted me almost everywhere I turned freshman year. Truly horrible piece of crap logo. Never went to a game though. And what about the new alternate Stars logo? Where's the love for that one?

You like the new Stars' logo? I say pick a color scheme and stick with it. Red, yellow, green and black? Yikes! The constellation-bull head is pretty cool, but all I can think of is the Demon that Gandalf fights in LOTR.

You like the new Stars' logo? Oh hell, no. I hate that thing with a thousand passions. I just wanted to know why it wasn't on the list. Maybe it's too new. I went to the fan shop in the AAC a couple of weeks ago and they had it on everything. T-shirts, jerseys, pucks, stickers, blah blah blah. I've heard it was designed by the guy that did the Rangers' alternate Statue of Liberty jerseys. Those were pretty nice. He must hate Texas.

The Macon Whoopees were a real team. The moved to Lexington Kentucky after 6 seasons in the ECHL. Their stats. Pictures of them playing. And even appear on the CNNSI site (with logo).

I think the Seattle Americans deserves more love -- Uncle Sam, bearing down on you with a shield in his hand, could kick some serious mascot ass.

I'd give a solid A to the person that wrote the text for the exhibit. Sort of an MST3K approach to logo analysis.

...and talk about low-budget: Austin Mavericks A bull on skates is pretty funny. Did the city of Austin hold a competition for this logo? Did they have a budget of fifty cents? How does that bull hold onto the stick with those hooves? How are his skates magically part of his body? All great questions.

Do any other sports' logos have as large a need to put some bit of the sports equipment in it that hockey does? And that Cincy Cyclones logo kicks ass, you know it does.

The Tribe should really sue the Fort Wayne Komets for stealing Chief Wahoo's cheesy-ass mug and grin.

Do any other sports' logos have as large a need to put some bit of the sports equipment in it that hockey does? Basketball? Where the majority of the logos have a, um, basketball...? Besides, I think most of those crappy logos with the hockey equipment are for teams in, well, really lousy hockey markets. I think the people in those markets need to be reminded exactly what this "hock ee?" thing is!

The new Dallas Stars logo looks like a map of the female reproductive system. I don't know who thought that would be a good idea. Why mess with one of the coolest uniforms in the league (one of the few instances where a daring new stripe pattern works well)? Macon Whoopee. That's awesome.
