Spofi NHL Fantasy Pool: We're off and running for the Spofi NHL Fantasy Pool again: details inside...

If you go to your Y! Fantasy Sports Profile, you can click on (some) of your past leagues (although only from your profile page, even if you're looking at someone else from the same league). Last year's settings were: Offense stat categories: G, A, +/-, PIM, SHP, PPP Goalie stat-cat's: W, GAA, SV Also, while I can't pinpoint the roster settings, I can tell you that I believe we had a total of 15 players per team. I'm gonna sit this one out (overstretched myself a bit Fantasy-wise last winter), but hope that helps. Have fun.

Excellent! And yeah, we'll start with last year's settings as a template, at least. Does anyone want to suggest any changes from last year?

I'd vote to get rid of shorthanded points. It's just such a wildcard and just shouldn't be as valuable as goalie wins or goals. I've got no particular beef with the rest.

Please please please don't join the league if you're not going to watch over your team until the end. We've had a very high churn rate the last two seasons (3-4 quitters out of 20), and it's a bummer. I'm in as Fromage en crottes. That's one third of a poutine.

To recap last year... The stats were: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP W, GAA, SV The roster spots were: C,C,RW,RW,LW,LW,D,D,D,D,G,G That's 12 spots. We could carry 15 players, and 1 more on the Injured Reserve. That sixth offensive stat category is always a subject of debate. If we remove it completely, we give even more weight to the goalie stats (3 against 5). But our choices are limited to stats that closely resemble all others (points), are somewhat meaningless (game-winning goals) or are a crapshoot (shorthanded points, shooting percentage).

I'm in. Revenge-a-licious is ready to roll. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to make the draft date as that is smack-dab in the middle of my work day. I guess that I'll have to set up a good draft list by then. I vote for leaving shorthanded points in there. It's a nice random factor, but if people wanted to do shooting percentage (a rate stat) to balance out the goalies having a rate stat (GAA), then I have no problem with that either. Of course, we could add them both...

is this open to those who didn't play last year or do we have to wait until someone drops out?

I am debating whether or not to join this one. Since I am a fantasy sports rookie, I think I'll just stick with the H2H NHL and NFL leagues. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

goddam, go for it. Anyone who does sign up might do good to mention it here so we know who's who, but aside from that, personally, I'm not too concerned. There weren't any lurkers last year, that I can remember anyway. (Though lilnemo abandoned his team early in the season, if memory serves.)

Yeah goddam, you should join. I mean, we've got real honest to goodness Canadian fanatics in here, AND have two French teams. This is a good league.

I'm on a year-long hiatus from these Yahoo fantasy games. This is punishment for forgetting all about my baseball team in Spofi's Yahoo league. I was really good about making roster moves on a daily basis up through April, but then the Hurricanes caught fire and won the Stanley Cup. Sports wise, I could only think of hockey for two months and subsequently let my baseball team tank. Sorry guys. I will, though, participate in any and all confidence points games.

I will, though, participate in any and all confidence points games. Are you in NFL confidence yet, NoMich, or were you referring to NHL only?

I hope you guys don't mind, but I'm in with Toothless Grin.

Chico's asked me to be in, and if there's room I'll do it, with a name thought up in the past 15 seconds... The Cleveland Robber Barons.

About how long does the draft take? Like Grum it is in the middle of my work day but I can schedule my lunch break to coincide with the draft time (provided it is not much longer than an hour)

I'm in as the Manitoba Moosen. Hater - A draft of at least 15 spots should take no more than an hour. Never did a hockey draft online, but I know for Fantasy Football, you get 90 seconds when it's your turn to pick.

Last year's draft wound up taking about forty minutes. Only a half-dozen players didn't make it, and even with the hemming and hawing, it moved pretty quickly. The auto-pick for absentees was pretty fast.

I've registered and because team-name lengths are limited to 20 characters, I'm officially the ClevelandRobberBaron (singular, like Utah Jazz or Philadelphia Bell -- which the makers of Invicible conveniently forgot to mention in Vince Papale's saga)

I was hemming and hawing about fantasy hockey this year (not yet in the mood, it seems) but.... now I have signed up for both the traditional and the h2h. Crap City Craphawks back for another year with brutal goaltending.

League Name: Spofi NHL Follies (#21111) Password: rockthatmullet I set the live draft time from Friday, September 29 at 3:30 pm ET (12:30 PT, or about 5:30 am owlhouse time). I figured a Friday afternoon would be the easiest time to coordinate across multiple time zones and busy lives. Now, as far as the roster & stat settings: I wish we had access to the older archives, as I'm willing to set the positions and trade settings to the same way as last year. But barring that, go have a look. We have a month to hash this stuff out. (Note: I'm in the H2H league as well, and I hope the world is big enough for both.)
