Sorry to disappoint my fan, but with the planning of nupitals on top of the regular holidays, I'll be lucky to have enough time to maintain adequate sanity levels. Which is to say my busy life is all an elaborate excuse to cloak my lackadaisical music pursuits of late. I'm so out of it, I just figured out who Justice is. Please be sure to post songlists of everybody's stuff. I love googling all the tunes that are shared.

So a Yankee fan quits because of a perceived slight towards the Yankees, and a Philly fan quits because Philly is getting dragged through the mud. Sounds like fans being fans to me. Quitting spofi is a long and sanctimonious tradition going back as far as I can remember, of which I am a part. People are people, get used to it.

Conspiracy theories are what make the world go round. I suspect. Bert for sure. Bobby Ryan might break out on the same line. Adrain Aucoin should bounce back nicely if he can stay healthy. He hasn't done squat since leaving Long Island. Same goes for Frankie Kaberle. Todd White is a favorite of some to have a huge year. He definitely has a chance to top his career high 60 points.

Sorry NoMich. Though I just saw that Karmanos has resigned for personal reasons. That may indicate something unhealthy within the team, or something negative we don't know about yet. Do you have any insight on this? My opinion is largely based on Ward coming to camp in top shape. He won his Cup and his Conn Smythe. Then got whipped for a season. He's back to prove something. Having Kaberle back should do wonders for the PP. And Cole healthy for a full season. And Justin Williams is solidifying his status as a force. I'd say Staal is going to have a bounce back year, but he may not if Marc starts to make noise. I have a theory he took step back to let Jordan have some ink last year, and he might do the same for Marc. But that is completely stupid.

I'm with you on the Devils missing. Landgenbrunner is out for 6 to 8 weeks. Starting the season with 800 roads games can't help. And Rafalski Paul Martin is not. The Atlantic might give three teams, but Pitts and the Rangers are way ahead of the Devils right now. Its between Philly and the Devils, and I'd pick the team that has a PP quarterback.

According to Romig, Therrien line mixed all season(I'd put that fact in the not coach of the year column.), so it is a bit difficult to assess who played with who. All I know is Staal didn't see Malkin-type time on the PP. Stastny and Hejduk combined on 36 goals. So when Stastny wasn't playing with Sakic and Brunette, he was feeding Hejduk. Awesome performance, but quite a bit more support and opportunity. Staal was supposed to go play for the baby Pens, but he produced so much from such limited ice time, they had no choice but to keep him up. Give him a full year with free rein and more support and I'd think he'd easily have 40 and 40. For me, Legwand is the most interesting nomination, mostly because I don't know jack about him. Pahlsson deserves a mention as well.

Hart : Crosby. I'm not going to add any fuel to the hype fire. Jack Adams : Nolan Norris : Neidermayer. I forget where I read this, but someone commented how Niedermayer does more to help his team win, and this tipped the scale away from Lidstrom. Lady Byng : Wellwood. 129 GP. 7 minor penaltes. No one is Byngier. Vezina : Luongo. Has been the best for the past few years. Calder : Staal - Malkin had more opportunity. Kopitar isn't as deadly. Stastny has Joe to thank. Selke : Neil - because I think the NHL wants to be like the NFL when it comes to defense.

Cool. I figured you had a good reason and you make a solid point. Things went pretty well until the playoffs and the injuries on D started to mount. I just thought they played a team game that was tough to beat. Total greater than the sum, and all that. Though in 05-06 Briere only played 48. Hecht(64) and Dumont(54) were limited too. And look how spread out that offense was. That is what really impressed me. And frustrated me because I kept wanting to pick up Sabres for fantasy, but team scoring was too balanced to be effective fantasy-wise. And Fris is right, a buck-ten in the NE is nothing to laugh at. I liken the Sabres to the Oilers, stocked forward corp and more on the way, except with home grown goal-tending. But losing Grier is huge. That guy is always in the right place at the right time. Where is Pyatt? That slipped by me this summer. p.s. - thanks for that link.

Succa, honestly, no offence, but is that a twinge of bitterness over the Sabres knocking out your Sens? They kicked my Leafs' ass all season long. Hell, I even started watching them in November simply because they were impressive. They scare me. Of the four finalists, I'd say they are the least Cinderellaishy.

Agreed. Gaping. I failed to heed NoMich's slow start warning as well. I like Ladd and Larose though. And the Adamses. And Ruff will have Buffalo humming again. He should've won the Jack Adams, imo. Of course, if Miller signs. And if Connolly is back by Christmas. Most pundits have the Leafs in the tank, or dependent on Raycroft, but I think the Leafs, though buoyed by the powerplay/getting tons of calls, esp 5-on-3s, are a much better team than they played as last year.(read: didn't play a team game for 50% of the season) And not playing Kaberle and McCabe for half the game will have more of an impact than most realize. Peca should amplify the skills of whoever he plays with(just like he did with Pisani and Torres)...I'd even move Stajan to a wing to play with Peca.

Bill, the Sharks are as deep as Anaheim in net, have way more fire power, and have emerging stars on the blueline. Though, I'd take Anaheim 5-3 in the season series, maybe even 6-2, based on Pronger neutralizing Joey T. Remember when Belfour came to the Leafs. He had been sucking and hurt in Dallas. Then he got repaired and kicked major ass. Well, Belfour is on the mend, and I think he'll be really good again this year. Detroit shoud've picked him up. Of course, in about 60 days I could look like a complete dunderhead, but that is what this is all about...humiliating yourself. Don't forget Jokinen's Olympic linemate is coming over too this season. I picked Florida to make the dance last year, based mostly on Luongo taking the next step. Irony is a bitch. Plus, don't forget Weiss was injured/not up to speed for alot of last season too. They should have 3 very dangerous lines.

Leave poor, cute, and fuzzy dictionary.com out of this. re: getting personal - I don't have an answer, but my best idea is to use the Largest Common Denominator as a reference point. I'd suggest the ubiquitous Golden Rule as a "guideline". But that has problems because everyone has a different pain threshhold, and for that matter a different defintion of 'pain.' Some people have kind supportive friends, while others have friends that constantly mock them as an expression of their bond, and you never know what kind of fruit you are biting into. The moral philosopher in me is quipping "The universal ethic debate, oh hurrah"
