SpoFi CD Swap?: Is it just me, or has this got lost somewhere over the equator?

posted by owlhouse to bugs at 05:38 AM - 20 comments

I've had my CDs ready for a few weeks now, but no email with four SpoFite addresses has arrived. Are all you guys swapping cool music without me, just like those bastard kids in the playground used to, or are we on indefinite delay? I feel lonely.

Thought we were waiting until after the holidays. Plus you haven't been assigned a theme yet.

Theme? Shit. Sorry, I'm new to this. Guess I got 4 new coasters here. I'll be your pal, owlhouse.

I made up the theme part, just to bother owlhouse. Ssshhh.

In that case, yerfatma, how do I get cup rings off of CD's?

Oxi-Clean. Duh. Owlie, you're far too ahead of the curve. Stop making us all look bad in front of the New Guy.

Sorry, guys. I'll hang on for a bit longer. (Theme? As long as it includes publicly funded all female punk bands from Melbourne, I should be OK)

Or should I try this?

publicly funded all female punk bands from Melbourne Like I needed another reason to wish I was on the other side of the equator right now.

Hey, ummm, if youse kids haven't done this yet, I get back to North America on Saturday, so I could sign up. Unless it's too late, in which case I couldn't.

I vote for Dr John. I got one of his last time, and can highly recommend his musical taste. Although 'OK Blue Jays' is starting to wear thin.

I wish I could claim this as my own mix, but sharing is caring, right? Or something. I already linked to it at the swap blogspot, but I wanted to make sure peeps get to listen to it.

Now if you could make that into a song there might be some big bucks in the making. On edit: Never mind. Our friendly admins have crushed all dreams of fame and fortune.

Folkways: I like your southern rock compilation. If it were me, I would start with "The South's Gonna Do It Again," but that's just me. And no Marshall Tucker? I took your advice to heart nomich and have thought long and hard about it. But after listening to the set a few times it really flows well as is. The first few songs are by Jay Hawkens recorded live at the Florabama and have a mostly country/rock sound. Then moveing to Rollin' in the Hay recorded live at the Oasis in Birmingham and is more Bluegrass. Absolutly hilarious stuff from both on southern livin' and going to concerts (Dead shows in particular). From there to actual southern rock. Sorry about the lack of Marshal Tucker, I did at least include Florida, Georga, Tennessee, and Arkansas bands. And I left out Sweet Home Alabama simply cause im sick of hearing it and I really like Neil Young. In fact I was at his show years ago in Birmingham not long after the release of S.H.A. and was horrified at the people who bought tickets just to boo him when he came on stage. as a side note I was also at the last Dead show in Birmingham prior to Gov. Wallace banning them from the state as well as the 1995 shows that was their return to Alabama. Ah good times, good times!
