It's stories such as the last three that make the Mike Vick and Pacman stories so much more frustrating. Here we have a young girl killed by a softball, a great college coach dying way too young, and a boxer shot and killed by two idiots because he asked them to not smoke. This has been a very depressing few weeks for sports news and discussions. I am to the point where I don't want to read sports, listen to talk radio or tv. Godspeed to the little girl, the coach and the boxer. '

Simon has always been a dirty player. He pushes the dirty "envelope" everytime his is on the ice. One year minimum, and if I were Hollweg, I would file charges. I love hockey, I like the fights, but this is just play ridiculous.

What inspiration. I cried. I know that there are many wonderful stories in this world, I only wish we could hear about more of them, instead of all the crap that goes on in this world. My sincerest thanks JJ for the article. Peace to all of you.

Accepted, but the key there is the word "contention". When there is an actual battle for the win, people are interested. But when Tiger is running away from the field......

Food for thought. I love Tiger as a person, he is a phenom to say the least. But, is he good for golf? I have heard many comments on the course that they loose interest in watching golf because the results are a foregone conclusion. They have more interest in watching when Tiger isn't playing. I personally enjoy watching Tiger sometimes, and other times it gets boring watching the same guy win over and over. It is not unlike when Jack was so dominating and so many people hated him for beating their favorite players like Arnie, Lee and Gary. Also, when it comes to stating who is the best golfer ever, how do you really compare Tiger against Jack or Arnie. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Different generations of equipment, courses, etc. make it almost impossible to compare them. I realize that Tiger is one of the greatest golfers I have ever watched. He can hit shots no one else would even attempt. But I am just saying... Open for discussion.

Black Hand - nice story. I was stationed at the Naval Reserve headquarters in New Orleans from 1982-1986. The first year there, I won season tickets to the Saints in a welfare and recreation raffle the base had. It was GREAT. The people of New Orleans now how to party, and they do so every Sunday of football season at the Dome. Back then, they didn't really care if they won or not, they just came to party. Now, after Katrina, and with the Saints playing so well, they still party, but they are partying WITH the Saints. Like you said, you just can't hate the Saints. I will be pulling for them this weekend (and hopefully again in the SuperBowl).

I agree with Favre. If it were not for the image problem they already had, I think the Vikings would have loved to have kept Robinson. This man needs help, he needs friends and he needs support. The NFL needs to get of their collective asses and do something to help these guys.

I love this rule. I wish the NFL would do the same for all the whining WR's always begging for a flag when they miss a pass. Just shut up and play ball.

Back in the day when the Twins played out doors, they used to have an advertisement on the top of the scoreboard in right field. On TOP of the scoreboard they had this tree, which was an advertisement for a bank. Reggie Jackson came up to bat, and smacked the snot of out it. Not only did he hit the tree on top of the scoreboard, but the ball was still on the way UP when it hit the tree. It would have been way out into the parking lot if not for that tree.

I admit to being one of those who could not understand Zidane's actions when it happened, but after reading this piece, I think I now understand. I think Zidane now sleeps better at night, knowing he ended his career on his terms. Excellent post, thank you.

News Flash: 3/4 of New York basketball fans commit suicide. I have to wonder what Isiah has on Dolan. Whatever it is, it must be huge. Now Zeke gets to coach all the crap he drafted. Good luck!

Remember, Jack and family are still designing some of the best golf courses in the world. Nice little hobby to keep him busy during his retirement years. Also not a bad supplement to his retirement income.

Fortunately, I live in Colorado, and the team owner has his own channel for almost all of the Avs games. I am also fortunate that I get OLN. Having said that, the NHL really needs to get its act together and get a better TV deal or they are going to virtually disappear. Bettman, get off your overpaid ass and gitter done!

Here, here. Being true hockey fans, my wife and I will enjoy the Stanley cup playoffs, no matter who is playing, we just love hockey. Besides, it's fun to watch an underdog take on, and beat, a favorite. We are Avalanche fans, but more than that, we are hockey fans. Like the article says, we will enjoy it!

I'm torn on this issue. On one hand, I agree that she should be helping elevate the LPGA, but on the other hand, she is playing excellent golf, and if she can beat the boys, then more power to her. I know that some say the PGA is a men's tour, but that's not true, it is for Professional Golfers. If she can legitimately compete, then why not. If she is just out there taking up a spot that's another story. But she seems capable of competing at a very high level.

Reviewing the numbers you submitted, it actually appears that scoring has improved. Attribute it to equipment, better conditioning of the players or whatever, the additional yards don't seem to have a negative effect, at least through round 1. Thanks for the post.

Someone told me this morning that there are actually 4 people on the ESPN brackets that picked the final four. I want to know what kind of drugs they were using. I may want to use those same drugs next year, because this year in shot.

How do you go from having one of the worst injuries in football, and then ask for more money. His hands are too small to get a good grip on the ball, he fumbles way too much, and his confidence is shot since he lost Moss as a receiver. As a Vikings fan, I say don't let the door catch you in the ass on the way out. We can use the money elsewhere.

Theismann reminds me too much of Dan Dierdorf. They find something early in the game to complain about and then repeat it through out the broadcast. Tirico is ok by me, and I am not too sure about Kornheiser, he is kinda pompous sometimes.
