I figured he wouldnt go yet. The announcers during the Hawaii Bowl said that he wanted to test the waters and see where he would be projected to go. I think he would be much better served staying for another year. He is pretty quick though and extremely accurate, but I think he needs to put on some more muscle before he goes to the league.

Comparing Colt to Chang, though, look at the ammount of interceptions Colt threw vs. Changs NCAA record number. Colt is much more accurate. I think he will be staying for one more year anyway. Im not saying he is going to be a great pro, im just saying he is a very talented QB.

I live in Youngstown, Ohio where many of the people are black, and many of the black people that I know dont have a problem with their white friends using the term "nigga." I know that I often see younger blacks (I'm 20) using the term in normal conversation with their friends. For me though, I'm Italian, I know that some of my black friends wouldn't care if i used the term, but others would be offended. I think it just depends on how comfortable the people are with each other.

I realize OSU didnt give up a rushing TD, but they still gave up 393 yards of offense. Also, NIU did throw an INT in the red zone. Dont count on that vs. UT.

Ted Ginn isnt even that great of a receiver. All he has is speed, and that doesnt make u a great receiver. The biggest game of his carrer was against a Notre Dame secondary that everydody threw on. How many yards did he have against Texas last year anyway....

I agree. That team was far more than just VY. OSU's D looked suspect in the first game, and I think Texas will capitalize.
posted by the don at 01:54 PM on September 07, 2006
Why is everybody underestimating Texas?? They are returning a lot of talent also. That team was a lot better than just Vince Young. Top to bottom Notre Dame doesnt have that hard of a schedule. And last year i think they only beat three teams with a winning record and a 7-5 Michigan without Mike Hart for most of the game was one of them. I think OSU can be good but when you lose 9 people on defense its hard to come back. Regardless of how talented they say the young guys are, you cant trade anything for experience. The offense should be solid though. And being from Ohio, i can tell you that Chris Wells is GOOD. And how about West Virginia? Fairly weak schedule with a lot coming back. They have the potential to go undefeated. deez, you mentioned Penn State, i believe they are underrated, but they did lose 4 o-linemen and a tight end on offense and all 4 starting DBs along with 3 d-linemen. Morelli should be solid though.

I didn't see the Ruiz fight but I read that it was very controversial, and that the crowd was even booing the decision. After hearing that I am really wondering how good this guy can possibly be. Ruiz is a bum who should not have even had the title to begin with. And I don't care how big you are, if you struggle with Ruiz you aren't going to be around for very long.

Beaver Falls is in western PA very close to Pittsburgh. I think people take being a fan a little too far sometimes. It's fun to cheer for your teams and all that, but as a teacher, you have to know your place.

Dungy said in an interview after the game that he was telling Manning to wave the punt team off because they were going for it. Dungy said the punt team just got a little excited and started to go out on their own. I really dont understand how u can say Polamalu did not get that pick. Poor Jerome.

grrrlacher, thats a good analogy. Regardless of who the Texans take, they are not going to be a contender next year, and I think Bush is just too good to pass up. I love Vince Young, but Bush has more potential to be successful in the NFL. Midwaymonster said he hopes Bush turns out like Larry Johnson, and that could be how this turns out. The Chiefs didnt really "need" Johnson, granted Priest was hurt the year before, but to pick up a back with that much talent is going to be good for your team.

I dont see the Texans passing on Bush, regardless of what Young did in the Rose Bowl. The whole year everybody was saying the Texans would take Bush, and I dont think it's going to change in one day like that.

bdaddy, thank you for mentioning the spy. There were people there, but did anybody see how many tackles Vince Young shook. "Bush is not an every down back at all" He proved before this game that he is an every down back. You cant judge a career on one game. Did u notice that he averaged 6.2 yards per carry and 94 yards receiving? White was just the better tooled back to run against that defense.

The only reason they beat Penn State is because of Carr's whining, and that what this is. Without that they are 6-5.

I dont understand why race is a factor in everything. Is this guy fucking serious in saying McNabb shouldnt be a pocket passer? Did he ever watch Aaron Brooks? He never runs either. Saying that all African-Americans are trying to keep racism alive is a rediculous statement, but I really wish there wasnt such a strong focus on it. I mean how much of an issue is race in everyday life in this day and age?

No matter who coaches, USC will be a contender again. I think LenDale White is sometimes overlooked a little bit because of the Reggie Bush hype. I personally think that if White was the featured back he could be one of the best in the nation. I may be mistaken, but isnt Booty a decent running QB?

I think this is the same situation that Steve Spurrier was in, only this time, we know that Carroll is a better college coach than an NFL coach. Some people are just better in the college game, and also I cant see USC letting him go that easily. Not only is he winning games, but he is a great recruiter.

littlelebowski is right, those are second tier teams in the non conference schedule. And everett, every conference beats up on their own. The Pac-10 certainly isnt the best conference in the country top to bottom. That award is still with the SEC. A case in point is Florida beating FSU. A decent SEC team embarassing the ACC champ. I think Oregon should have a BCS game simply based on record, but they really havnt beaten anybody, and i dont think they would fair well in a BCS game.
posted by the don at 07:14 PM on December 05, 2005
Good point about the VT and Miami defense. I think Robinson can win a game with his arm though. He led a game-winning drive at Northwestern, and also had an impressive drive at the end of the game vs. Michigan that gave them the lead only to see it lost again. Also when looking at the ACC championship game, FSU was outgained by about 150 yards. Aside from their first scoring drive (a field goal), their worst start was their own 44 (on scoring drives). So i agree with u Drallig that it will come down to turnovers and field position, but like i said, I like Penn State to win because of their defense.
posted by the don at 12:10 PM on December 05, 2005
I think FSU is very deserving of this game. Bucsforever said it well. And i agree with Drallig9399 that FSU is the fastest team Penn State has seen but i dont think its the best. I think Ohio State is. I like Penn State to win this game with its elite defense. Its hard to find a weakness on it, and Michael Robinson still doesnt get enough credit at quarterback. Penn State is a solid team all-around.

Do you change change the whole process because a conference has an off year? That is a great point imhipdigit. You cant shoot down the conference champ just because the conference had an off year. People said that last year about USC and we all saw what happened in the Orange Bowl.

Texas Tech is not a powerful offense? And can u not compare this argument to the talks about USC's schedule last year? Regardless of schedule strength, Texas dominated teams. They did all they could and all they had to do. Also, Texas is probably better on all-around special teams, and definitly better on defense. Not to mention, they score more points than the Trojans
posted by the don at 10:21 AM on December 04, 2005
yes it is yerfatma. Also, in the last few weeks of the season when FSU lost a few games, they werent playing for anything except bragging rights against Florida. They already had their spot in the ACC championship sealed. I think they are much better than their record

I dont see what the big deal about them being black is. I cant speak for this, but do african-americans feel so opressed that it is a big deal that there are black coaches succeeding? One thing I hate is the fact that people call it stereotyping saying black coaches dont do as well. Figures dont lie and until yesterday, black coaches historically have not done very well.
