I loved his interview on the Dan Patrick show a month or so ago when he said he hasn't smoked in awhile. What is his definition of awhile? Since he put down the bowl or his Bic died? Maybe he's cashed out today? Why not just say, yeah I still smoke. Hell he had to know they'd test him again. Idiot!

Grum, you hit the nail on the head. Both interleague play and the availability of resources to build new ballparks has made this something that can't be compared to previous eras. I am a fan of the PAPHI stat and have to look into that.

All eyes will be on him once he gets the job somewhere so what's so wierd about this? Congrats JaMarcus, you are now a public figure. Get used to it. In the coming years there may be dozens of these people everywhere you go...except then they are called paparazzi. Same exact thing kid, just a different name.

Good article. The man is nutty, that's for sure. But its a good nutty. Favorite Manny moment...aside from the grill for sale on ebay, is the disappearing behind the wall during a pitching change and nearly not making it back out.

I read this yesterday as well. I'd be interested to see the losing team's rings from the past 40 years. It says they're allowed to be 1/2 the price. That's still impressive! And does the Patriot's ring from 39 really rock back and forth when set on edge? Is this natural or like those clacky ball things you see on desks from the 70's and 80's?

I think its clever and clearly the guy isn't protesting Bonds but rather making a mockery of him. I'd buy him a beer. Like Weedy said though, It's hardly a protest or even a big deal. You can tell the SF media is hunting for stories.

Girardi's situation has got to be one of the funniest thing's I've seen in awhile. Everyone knew he was a top candidate for MOTY and the Marlins still booted him. Does anyone know if another manager gotten kicked out the year he won MOTY? Operative words here are kicked out.

I wonder what T.O. will be like when he retires. Any ideas on how he'll stay in the spotlight? A Dennis Rodman like brief wrestling career followed by a stint in the AFL at the age of 43? Talk show host maybe? I'm curious as to your thoughts.

I thought it was kind of odd to not allow players to wear the sweatbands on various locations of their bodies My sentiments exactly. The NBA should spend more time worrying about its product then its "gangsta" image. I've noticed recently the forearm sweatband has become the accessory of choice in the Chicagoland area amongst seemingly every group of people. Why bother with it?

Sorry about the opinion. The NBA just gets me mad sometimes and the reason for the redux is the newsflash that the league may actually re-consider because of the whining

Were the balls different back then? 734!?! That is HUGE! Hell, even the 600+ numbers are astonishing. I thought Big Mac hit some bombs but in the side by side comparison Big Mac finishes 9th on the Mantle list. Side note, one of my favorite homeruns was seeing Glen Allen Hill back when he was playing for the Cubs in the early 90's (I believe) hit a bomb to right field that cleared the park, the street and smashed through a second floor window. That was estimated at over 600 feet I believe.

Outstanding all around. I think Kornheiser had the perfect blend of witty banter and silence. I was worried about him over-running the program but he proved to everyone that he can fill in the role of entertainer quite nicely. I can't wait until around week 8 or 9 when he causes Theisman to blow a fuse with some of his questions though.

This is quite possible the dumbest rule in NASCAR. They need to put the commit line well ahead of the entrance to the pits to allow drivers time, should something like this happen, to abort their entrance into the pits

Small in team size, not financial. Even the richest team only gets so much test time though. Roush and their, what 6, drivers get more test time as a whole. Penske gets 1/3rd of that and so does Hendrick. Yeah the money is their for them but even deep pockets can't get them more "legal" testing. That is where DEI is, and I think Michael Waltrip was probably not a good test buddy since I believe he has enough trouble driving a track in a car that is set up right. Imagine him shaking out a new car...yikes!

There are a lot of smaller teams out there that compete. Perhaps Teams Penske and Hendrick ring a bell and you know Jimmy Johnson is not on a big team right? Dale is a good but not great driver. I would grade him at a B/B-.
