College Student Starts University Football Program

I am not in any way a traditional student. Could someone kindly explain to me what a club sport is? Versus a JV/Varsity team? Thanks in advance and excuse my ignorance!

Memo to the NFL: London doesn’t care!

I am sure that American football has a following in UK like Soccer has here. I have tons of friends who get up at 8:00 am to go check out the Chelsea or Manchester games. I am not sure our Ranter knows where or how to look. Soccer is always on the cusp of breaking out here. And While the NFL europe closed I am sure there are some heartbroken fans there as well. What a TURD!

Sorry for the grammatical errors above.

Video Shows Coach Shoving Young Player.

To me this is a matter of responsibility.

The coach had the responsibility to discipline the child properly. The kids getting punched had a responsibility to say something. The parents of the agressor have the responsibility of raising a child who knows how to act properly in social situations. The agressor has the responsibility of exercising good judgment, knowing right from wrong and representing the team properly. The league has a responsibility to make sure the coach is dealt with.

And please stop Blaming the generations. It's just not true. It is my responsibility to know what kind of house payment I can afford. It is my responsibility to know what my interest is and can be. It is my responsibility to be prepared financially. Just like it's my idiot neighbors responsibility to do the same. I even feel that it is the responsibility of the lending institution to make sure they put themselves in a position where they are assured to get their money back. Even, though I am going to get a tax hike because my idiot neighbor overextended his finances on a house that he couldn't afford and the lending institution let him. Age is unimportant. Responsibility is.

Both items from a basic standpoint are only news because too many people didn't take personal responsibility. (an 11 year olds parents are ultimately responsible for the child until child is 18, but the child IS old enough to know better)

That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

Gridiron Guarantee.

"That won't fly in pro sports"

Maybe it won't but maybe it should.

High School Hazing Rears its Ugly Head Again

Plus, no matter how big someone or some people are, nobody can make anybody take some shit in their ass. I would be floppin around like a fish out of water, throwing elbows, knees, kicks to the groin, gouging out eyes etc. And yes, if they somehow managed to "haze" me, there would be some revenge killings.

Good for you. You are a real man. Unfortunately, I must live in the real world where rape and mob-mentality exists. It's the same world where fear, acceptance, peer-pressure and need to belong rule a teens life. To say that these kids did nothing is wrong. Somebody told someone something, otherwise it wouldn't be news. At least one of the kids used their voice which is IMHO just as good as purchasing tickets to your gun show.

At the end of the day the real problem is that these boys would have even tried in the first place. There's hazing and then there is abuse and truly criminal acts. This is criminal.

Miami Springs New Offense on New England in 38-13 Upset

I think it would have been a good game to watch. It sucks I can't choose. Maybe it'll be on NFL network this week. I'll have to look. It's amazing what 10% of a teams snaps will do for a team.

Josh Howard Disrespects National Anthem

Dear Glenn,

I work for a national organization that deals everyday with a lot of AA children. Everyday I go to work thinking I can make a difference today. Today I can touch somebody's life and make it a little bit better. Some people need hope. And a lot of overpaid athletes (not Josh Howard)offer that hope and most do a lot of good things in their communities. I have never met and AA family that has a sense that they are better than anyone else. So I ask you in all seriousness what are you doing to make it better? Have you ever volunteered your time? You should it's very rewarding. Perhaps if you understood the problems or saw it for yourself you wouldn't have such a strong opinion. If that doesn't interest you, I am sorry.

To use a Cliche I believe in: If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

Ironically, you and Josh Howard have a lot in common. You don't appreciate the things that make this country wonderful. You both have the right to say what you want, you both exercised that right. Right or wrong you both get to say what your belief's are with the only consequence being a rebuttal from the opposition. It's really a great country!

Josh Howard Disrespects National Anthem

What Josh said shows the quality of man he is. That's it. We can agree or disagree. That ability to agree or disagree is a right that we are given. We can't make this a racial thing either. We know better. Really? Not all AA feel the same way I know that, you know that too.

Zambrano fires no-hitter!

The Cubs certainly are playing great baseball this season. This game being a milestone. But honestly, they have a lot to prove in the post season. One can hope for the best. I know as a Pirates fan I've been hoping to break 500 for quite a few years.

AFI names its top 10 sports movies

Without The Big Lebowski, it's not a compete list. posted by chicobangs at 12:57 PM CDT on June 19 Bowling is as much of a sport as pool. I concur Jerry Maguire? Really? Fail! I would put the replacements in front of that stupid waste of my life. Cool Runnings not top ten but better than Jerry Maguire. Major League, Titans, Slapshots are all awesome.

Bill Bavasi, helping:

My kids' sense of awe at the size of a major league stadium will be enhanced by the fact that it's empty. Make no mistake, after 31 years, I still root for my team. I still watch the games (well, til about the sixth or seventh inning). I just won't be driving across the state and putting down my hard earned this year. Eight hours round trip, $45 per seat, and countless more $$$ for lodging and food is a bit much to watch a team stink on ice. I've got minor league ball here in town at $9-$25 a ticket or an undefeated af2 team to watch in a state of the art arena. We will have a sporting experience, it just won't be major league this year. But we could go to an M's game and STILL not get a major league experience. So sad but true. My Pirates have done the same thing to us since the early '90's. I feel your pain!

Game 5

I am at a loss. Beaten at home when the pressure is on. Now we have to go to their house and win. Tough, tough, tough. I really thought the Penguins had some momentum in the Play-offs. Detroit is amazing! and that Sucks!

Bourdon killed in motorcycle accident

I think it's sad. But as a prosports person, any sport,(remember ben roethlisberger?)where is the line between blowing off steam and having fun and staying ready for the next season and making sure you are ok? I have no idea where I stand on that issue. It's sad though, the family will be in my thoughts.

Kimbo Slice is Going Primetime

Boxing and, dare I say it, (yes I dare) professional wrestling have their ebbs and flos. I think that this will be no different. CBS is putting itself out there first. Frankly, I am surprised Fox didn't go there first. PPV is where the money is and I don't think this will last. I don't think it will pick up a big enough fan base. But as my wife will tell you I have been wrong before! It will go off the air, they will make rules correction that makes it "safer" a network will pick it up again, again the fan base won't improve and so it will ebb and flow!

Whiffle hurling.

Man that does take me back to my school days; inventing stuff and then forgetting it. Those games didn't last as kids would make up rules as they went, instead of for fairness and or competetiveness. This sport looks like fun.
