Newbie with great seats observes the game.: Curt Schilling gets great court-side seats and shares his observations as a sports star, but basketball novice (after some comments about the Red Sox).

"That could have been a direct result of the officiating and flow of the game though, more than anything." I think that pretty much sums up game two... "I couldn’t play in the NBA because about 43 times last night I heard things being said that would have made me swing at someone" You wouldn't if you knew you would get suspended for the rest of the season if you actually hit someone...It's not baseball Curt.

this is also pretty classic "What? Dude, your [sic] an NBA official, not the stinking Pope. Not one person in the arena paid 1 cent of their ticket to see you, ref the game and shut your pie hole."

"I couldn’t play in the NBA because about 43 times last night I heard things being said that would have made me swing at someone" no Schill, you can't play in the NBA because you are short, fat, slow and white. Now get your short, fat, slow white ass back on the mound. BTW, your daughter was texting me.

With a quick google search, several sources put Curt Schilling at 6'5. Paul Pierce is 6'6. Rajon Rondo is 6'1. Ray Allen is 6'5.

I'm pretty sure there are at least a few white players in the league. I could be mistaken though. Anyone have any information on this?

T. J. Simers totally calls Schilling out over this blog entry.

I thought that was an interesting take, one that Jackie McMullan proffered on the execrable Around the Horn. If Schilling doesn't think journalists can understand what goes on in a baseball clubhouse, how can he turn around and offer his observations on basketball? I suppose he'd claim there's far more in common there, but it's another Here Comes Everybody situation, where, like Clay Shirky suggests, "journalist" is changing from something you are to something everyone is at times.

And if racist claims like that can come about a league where Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki (a Canadian and a German, mark you) are two of the best players in the league, you really don't pay much attention to the sport.

Don't be obtuse: it was in reference to the suggestion you'd always pick a black player over a white one.

Yeah, I guess my humor (or attempts) makes me look like an ass from time to time. I need to tone it down.

"I couldn’t play in the NBA because about 43 times last night I heard things being said that would have made me swing at someone" Pure gold. That's a lot of trash talk...
