Remedial Parenting 101:: Don't let your 4-year-old kid play in, around, or anyplace near the endzone! (Related story)

Yikes, that wasn't pleasant to watch. Glad to read that the kid wasn't seriously hurt, but sheesh, someone needs to find the dumbass who let the kid stand there and kick him in the nuts.

I'm not saying it's the kid's own fault, or that the parents were to blame, all I'm saying is I wish there was a slow motion recap (from what I can tell the kid was playing with some little girl in a white T-shirt, then she dances away -- from blame, no doubt -- when the refs come running.)

That kid got laid out. I agree with afx, anybody who is stupid enough to leave their kid that close to the field is a dumbass.

The university is currently looking into changing its policies about allowing children on the field during games. I'm speechless.

Dad should be arrested and charged with child care negligence and endangerment.

Rocky and the rest of you, mellow out! Stuff happens. Getting knocked down is part of growing up.I'm glad the boy is OK, but charges? It was an accident, for chrissake!

It's a pretty foreseeable accident, to anyone who's spent any time on the sidelines of a football game. Those parents are lucky as hell. George Hill, the receiver, appeared to catch the touchdown and then catch the kid, taking more of the brunt of the collision with the padded wall. According to another story, there were a bunch of kids near the practice field because of some youth football celebration going on to accompany the college scrimmage. CSU Coach Sonny Lubick immediately cancelled the practice. There's some funny quotes from Caden on a TV station report.

Safety Rule: Don't get between the field of play and a padded wall surrounding the field. This wall is there not just to protect you (from your own stupidity) but prevent injury to the player as well. You may as well remove the seat belts and disengage the air bags in your car while you're at it.

When that kid grows up and plays sports, he's going to get hit (by another player, an object, the boards, whatever). He'll be able to tell his teammates "It was nothing. I got hit harder as a 4 year-old."

Getting knocked down by a 210 lb receiver ..... On edit....184 lb.(according to the CSU website), but add his equipment, and the speed he was going at, and some physics major could tell us some more interesting stuff I'm sure.

OUCH! thanx, rcade, pretty good slow motion for the catch. Dad, when you have small children, YOU HAVE TO WATCH THEM! I'm very surprised the injuries were not more severe.

I agree with grum on this one. He's got bragging rights and the video to back it up.

Sure looked like Hill took quite a lick trying to minimize damage to the kid. Good for him.

So the injury happened to Caden's head. I wonder if he knows the Pope.

All those "Caden's head" references were weirding me out. There are a lot of Cadens out there along with the Jadens and Bradens. How did that happen?

posted by rcade at 06:34 AM on April 25, 2007

How did that happen? I'm legally required to link to George Carlin's rant on goofy boy's names. NSFW!!

Something like thirty stitches to the head. Ouch. Kids going to have fun in his older years talking about that one. All i have to say is that the parents better not press charges on Hill. There has been so many crapy cases these days it's BS.
