Jets Bench Sanchez, But Still No Tebow: The New York Jets have benched quarterback Mark Sanchez and will start third stringer Greg McElroy next weekend against the San Diego Chargers. McElroy, a seventh round draft pick in 2011, leaps over Tim Tebow on the depth chart. No word yet whether Tebow remains "excited to be a Jet."
I still want Tebow in Jacksonville. He is my sun, my moon and all my stars.

Somewhere, Brady Quinn is smiling.
He's in Kansas City and I don't think he's smiling very much right now.

rcade, you're having a highly rhapsodic afternoon. First there's the burning of Josh Hamilton love poems, now this.
Are they featuring the same mega bottles of holiday econo-merlot in Duval County that I've succumbed to up north?
Starting McElroy is step one in a multi step process that has been initiated by dark lord Woody Johnson.
Cryptanalysts are just now decpihering the first messages from his headquarters that have been intercepted today.
What they've got thus far is:
Saban...AFC East...unfinished business...

Who's that chick with the rack on the right side of the page?
Oh, back to the topic. Seems like this Jets team, with an embarrassing array of receivers being thrown to by a piss-poor quarterback, would have been a perfect situation, if ever there was one, for Tim Tebow. The fact the shitty Jets coaches couldn't even see fit to try and utilize him is rather funny.
Now they switch back to a QB who wasn't even on the active roster last week.
Brilliant.

mega bottles of holiday econo-merlot
That's terrific.
In Canada it comes in a 4 litre box. But it isn't of high enough quality to be labelled merlot ... "Red Wine, blended and boxed in Canada" if I recall.
Great stuff for limiting the outlaw's visits.

I, a Charger fan, was joking with my Jet fan roommate from college about how Rivers and Sanchez should just play catch for a few hours so as to eliminate the middleman defensive back and not waste everybody's time and effort.

It's a t-shirt advert but her boobs are blocking the design. How are they ever going to sell any t-shirts?!

Who knows maybe McElroy is the true second comming and Tebow is the anti-Qback...

From AL.com Tim Tebow will request trade if the Jets stay with McElroy

There is no way they can play Tebow now. If he comes in and lights it up even though he is awful, the staff looks worst than they already do and people want to keep Tebow. The Jets mishandled this to the nth degree. Not much they can do to cover themselves.

Remember a year ago when Tim Tebow was a star, and everyone was "Tebowing".
Yeah, those were crazy times.
I wonder if the new version of "Tebowing" is sitting on the bench and looking sad.

I, for one, only took the opportunity to "Tebow" because: (a) I thought I was mocking him; and (b) I knew that my window of opportunity to do so was a small one, and that he would be irrelevant within the year (in a Skip Bayless-free world, anyway).

In what, like 40 days? You'll be able to tell because the boulder in front of his Manhattan apartment will have been moved.

Yeah, the Jets wouldn't want to take the chance they'd actually win games.
Tebow should leave, and the pathetic coaches and management should follow closely behind.

I am retiring my Jets hoodies until the team starts building a serious offense. This means the exit of the Sanchez and Tebow Follies. Both may be talented, but belong elsewhere. It's high time Coach Ryan gets serious about hiring the right players: those who can score. Mondays spectacle was a horror show and an embarrassment to the game.

EEEEE, do you, as a Jets fan, really want Ryan back to make those changes, and the GM? I'm a Pats fan but it seems your house needs to be cleaned from top to bottom. If it isn't I'm happy just the way things are there now.

As a Pats fan, I think Tannebaum needs to go, but it's hard to blame Ryan for the way he's worked with the players he has.

I don't see where the Jets have put near as much effort into Tebow's development as the Broncos did. Or taken near as much interest in it.
Tebow going to Carolina might be freaky. They already have a QB down there who is the team's top rusher darn near every week. Lord knows what the blocking assignments on the OL would look like, though.

So ... the Broncos were trying to justify wasting a first round pick on a player who didn't have the skills to play QB. They also have a coaching staff who understand their team and players' strengths and weaknesses and gameplan accordingly.
Jets are a mess. They have an offensive scheme that they cannot execute with the players they have. They waste money on players they don't want or need. The players don't believe in the coach, who in turn doesn't believe in the management.

The Jets spent fourth- and sixth-round picks and $3.6 million to get Tebow, including a payout to the Broncos. It's weird they've done so little to attempt to make that investment pay off.
