I'm awfully big on world-class kielbasa.

I gotta say that my vote would go for impromptu 2 am samba session featuring energetic, well-defined dancers in feathered headgear and green and gold thongs.
I'll be watching it all on TV so my vote doesn't really count.

As a Chicagoan, I have to say I hope it goes to Rio.

As an American I hope it goes to Rio. San Francisco put together a bid (which lost to Chicago) and I was scared it might win. Despite being more than 30 miles south of the city, the town where I live--Mountain View--was supposed to be a prime location. Just what we need here!
Frankly I think they should build permanent facilities near Athens and stop this moving around crap.

C'mon, what are the odds of two Brady's? It is like the owner saw a psychic that said 'Brady'.

Rio would be really cool, actually. I bet it goes to Rio because a South American country has never hosted

I'd vote against Rio just so we wouldn't have to endure playing that damned Duran Duran song four times an hour for two and a half weeks.
But I'm with bill. A singular, permanent site would avoid all of this mess and get some extended use out of the costly facilities.

When I develop dementia, I am so going to say it is from my time in the NFL.
Unless I forget.

I hope it goes to Rio, in the interest of fairness and excitement. It will be a mess, but they always are.

Much depends on the gender of the "well-defined" dancers in the green feathers and gold thongs, but yeah, I kind of like Rio vs Chicago (where a promising student was killed recently in gang-related violence at his school. He was an innocent bystander trying to help a friend)

I hate to break it to you, but going to Rio to avoid violence is like going to Scotland to avoid whisky.

I'd prefer Tokyo, mainly for time zone reasons. But it doesn't look like everyone there is fully committed to the future of the Olympics.

anyone else working on a prediction for which city will be awarded the 2016 Olympic Games?
I'm still waiting for the year to come when the Olympic Games will be hosted around the globe simultaneously ... doing away with the colossal overspending and social atrocities. It can still be the Olympics for chrissakes ... and perhaps even somehow better than the current (Modern) version.

and then I read owlhouse's link, and am willing to be the first to second that idea ... the 2020 Olympics could look much different than they do today

Gee, what city could be safer than Rio - where the cops carry machine guns to control any violence (tic).

As opposed to Chicago, where a boy walking home from school was swarmed and murdered by a mob last week ?

Hey, I grew up near Hartford - which is probably the murder capital of the US of A (per capita, of course). I trust the Olympic Committee has sense enough not to ever, ever consider Hartford.
BTW the (tic) at the end of my comment stands for tongue-in-cheek. That means sarcastic remark. FYI, the BTW stands for by-the-way. Oh yea, the FYI stands for for-your-information.
PS: Just having fun with you. PS stands for post script - meaning added as an afterthought.

C = cheek
Tongue in cheek = sarcastic f**ken remark - just like this one.

So much for Chicago: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/olympic_games/8282518.stm. Two left standing are Rio de Janeiro and Madrid.
The 2014 World Cup is going to be in Rio/Brazil. Hopefully if Rio gets 2016 this double will give them a leg up across most areas of concern.

Is the Hoser or anyone else working on a prediction for which city will be awarded the 2016 Olympic Games?
For the heck of it, I'll say Rio. Chicago gets stiffed.
If you're a voting IOC official and you're thinking ahead, what would you rather remember as your personal Olympic moment: eating world class kielbasa and watching Milton Bradley climb the ivy at Wrigley before being subdued by security, or finding that the hallway outside your hotel room is hosting an impromptu 2 am samba session featuring energetic, well-defined dancers in feathered headgear and green and gold thongs?
