Romo does endorsement spoof: So Tony's full devotion to football lasted how long? Guess he won't be endorsing condoms for a while.

When did it become open season on Tony Romo?

Training camp hasn't started yet. Romo, as the story states, endorses only one sponsor, which is far less than a lot of other top athletes. After the Colts won the Super Bowl it seemed like every third commercial starred Peyton Manning, but no one questioned his devotion to the game.

That video must have taken many minutes to produce. Minutes that could be better spent throwing footballs or at least thinking very hard about throwing footballs.

I'd prefer that he spend his minutes handling extra point snaps.

This post is rather useless without a link to the video. Or is it linked to in the three paragraph Yahoo story that this FPP takes us to?

I can't believe that this is news.... Like rcade said, everyday I see some commercial with Peyton or Eli Manning kicking each other, I see nothing but these stars doing commercials. So, why is it a big deal when he does a spoof of a commercial. As it said in the post, he only endorses one product and that is STARTER. People need to give the dude a break. He hasn't done anything to warrant this other than dating / ditching Jessica.

I see it this way... He gets the snap down and they kick the extra point... Seattle had way too much time and would have only needed an extra point. No guarantees they would have won.

Against the Giants, the O-line got their asses whopped by the D-line of the Giants.... just as the Packers and Patriots found out. But, it is his fault.... then why not Favre's or even Tom Brady's.... It's such a double standard when it comes to him and other QB's in the league. I would rather have him and his winning percentage than any (maybe except one or two) other QB's in the entire league. He is a good player that had to play with TO.... "Throw me the ball and we win" TO.... threw his QB under the bus and thank goodness he is gone. I think they stand a much better chance now as he can throw to the open guy instead of trying to have to get player X a certain number of throws.... A guy that was second in the league in dropped passes.

I don't really see who is making a big deal about it. The linked article certainly didn't make a big deal about it..was just pointing out that Romo did a commercial spoof of Peyton's videos, which is kindof funny at least conceptually.

The only comment that seems to be making a "big deal" about it is jjzucal's "So Tony's full devotion to football lasted how long?", but I'm not sure if he really felt that Tony should be spending each hour of his offseason thinking about football, or he was just making a slightly snarky comment to that point :-)

The video was on ESPN's Sports Center last night. I thought it was a hoot. So Tony Romo does a video, and the problem is...?

I updated the link with the actual video.

After seeing the video, it is hillarious... from the perspective of tongue in cheek... I like the dude and think he is a decent guy. You won't see him doing situps in his driveway when he gets media attention or posing naked on magazine covers, but everyone NOW says the pressure is on him. It always was. He is just more of an ordinary guy that because of who he plays for and who he was dating is subject to headlines every time he opens his mouth.

He better make as much as he can as fast as he can any way he can. The players responsible for his failure are gone, the coaches responsible for his failure are gone ....

I wonder who he plans to blame this year?

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning jump to mind. But, what about Philip Rivers? Donovan McNabb? Kurt Warner? Maybe even Joe Flacco for the youth movement. Those are all playoff QBs. Outside of the playoffs, Drew Brees? Possibly Aaron Rodgers.

Show me where Romo has blamed anybody for the Cowboys flameouts the last couple years, other than himself. He's one of the most self-effacing star players in the league.

Too bad he isn't funny.

Don't give me any guff, J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets. Romo's made the years without a single playoff win a little more tolerable than they would be otherwise.

Tony's stats for his first 3 years speak for itself. He has a higher QB rating average for those 3 years than Eli, Peyton, McNabb, Rivers. He had 4 fewer touchdowns than Peyton, but more than the QB's mentioned above for the same 3 years. Excluding Brady, and Ben Roethlesberger none of these guys have had great playoffs in the first few years. Even Eli's superbowl year he had 23 TDs to 20 INT. Eventually Romo is gonna have to start winning some late year games, but we should be having this argument probably 2-3 years from now if he doesn't at least get to a NFC championship game.

I love it when this guy is pretty much a professional on the sidelines, locker rooms, media, off field and all you hear is "This guy has no one to blame, its his locker room now, he needs to be more passionate, he buddy's up with his TE" Give me a break, actually give this guy a break he doesn't throw sideline fits, throw teammates under the bus, he has fire. Just look how fired up he was in the playoff game against the Giants.

Pretty much reading the comments on here everyone pretty much sees it the way I do, except a couple of comments that really doesn't have much reality to it.

This doesn't really pertain to the video, but the media are the ones responsible for making non-issues an issue and scrolling it across their "breaking news crawlers"

BTW, I did research the stats above, I'm sure his first three years look a lot better than most 3 year QB's, I just didn't have the time or want to , to look up more QB's.

Yeah, for a guy that has only been around for about a full 3 years, I would take him over just about anyone.... no, make that absolutely nobody..... Keep you other guys and I think I will root for mine. And if he doesn't win the big one or get past a NFC championship, then he will be remembered with guys like Donovan McNabb...

As you can see Im a ravens fan and I am happy that you added Joe Flaco to the list of QB's that might be better than Romo. Personally I think that Romo is very overrated because not only can he not get the job done near the playoffs but also he was on a team with a great defense with a sack machine on the D-line that gave him many opportunities that he missed. I am not a fan of T.O., he pisses me off but the stat about the dropped passes isn't only his fault it's also about the quality of the passes thrown by Romo. And back when there was the jessica simpson thing about how she distracts him and was a curse, thats bull s..t because it was his fault that he couldn't concentrate on his job that is making him so wealthy. Now that T.O. is gone the cowboys are going to have to rely on there running game but Marion Barber does not have the stamina to play a whole game (cause they had the deep threat of T.O.) so the cowboys will need to put in Felix Jones who doesnt have a good enough amount of experience to carry there team. The QB's that ARE better than Romo are: Brady, Both Mannings, Brees, McNabb, Flaco, Rivers, Warner, Rothlisberger, The old dude on the titans, JaMarcus Russel, and maybe Matt Haselback (my friend made me say the last one, cause we live in seattle). This is my first post thank you

Well, I wouldn't get too happy about the Ravens just yet as they lost Mr. Ryan to the J E T S, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets...... I doubt that the Ravens make the playoffs this year either. It is only because of their D that they have won in the past year or so and the mastermind behind it is gone. I would take a real good look at the coming year and throw pressure on the kid and he might not do so well. The part about saying Dallas has a great defense.... what were you watching. Did he or did he not rally said Cowboys team to a lead twice and have the defense blow it by not 1, but 2 longest runs from scrimmage all year... How is that great D. Great D shuts down the other teams when you offense gets you the lead late in games...

As for the guys you list above him, what do you have to back it up? If you are going to play the game, put it in context like sgtcookzane did.... he at least gave you that stats to prove it.

Oh, and a dropped pass is one that hits the player in the hands or is a catchable ball, not one that is overthrown or some nonesense... thus the term "dropped pass".

Why? By making the Cowboys seem more like Reality TV than an NFL team?

I'd prefer my mediocrity in obscurity.

But then who am I to talk.? I just suffered through the penultimate year of Augustus Favre the 1st, the Emperor of Football.
