World Series St. Louis Cardinals vs. Detroit Tigers Bonus: Pick the World Series MVP. Super bonus: Pick the MVP's batting average, within .005 points (i.e. if you pick .376 and the MVP Kenny Rogers bats .381, you get the point). Note: you do not have to get the MVP pick correct to qualify for the Super Bonus. Another note: we shall assign a .000 average to anyone with 0 PA in the series. Possible points: 4. Pick + number of games + Bonus + Super Bonus.

Tigers in six Craig Monroe .416 And, no, I haven't been hit in the head with anything tonight...

Tigers in 5 Carlos Guillén .392 Also, re: both LCS's? *whiff*

The fact that some guy from outside North America is currently leading our pool is a sure sign that my failure is obviously just as big of a fluke. Ahem. That said, I'm sorry to do this to all the Tigers fans, but: Tigers in six Nate Robertson .005

se·ries (sîr'?z) n., pl. series. Emphasis mine. I was using LCS as the plural. "The LCS" is an abbreviation of "The League Championship Series, Both of 'Em".

Detroit in 5 Todd Jones, .005

posted by DrJohnEvans at 12:08 AM on October 20, 2006

Tigers in 4 Brandon Inge .372

posted by apoch at 12:43 AM on October 20, 2006

Are you referring to my statement, DJE? The *whiff* was meant to refer to the fact that my score for said round of playoffs was an ever fantastic Zero.

The fact that some guy from outside North America is currently leading our pool is a sure sign that my failure is obviously just as big of a fluke. Seconded. (But loving it, nonetheless!). Now I have to find out if the Asia-Pacific service of ESPN is carrying the series, as I'll be in Samoa. Cards in 7 Pujols 0.366

Tigers in six. Curtis Granderson. .355.

Sorry, Ufez! I thought you were referring to the syntax of my use of "LCS". I get it now.

Detroit in 4. Pudge Rodriguez. .515 (he's going to play like he's out of his brain on the train, dontcha know).

I hate this game! Hate it, hate it, hate it! I'm sticking with Detroit in 7, and for the bonus, Guillen and .326.

Just a fix to the second note: replace PA with AB, because of course BA is calculated with AB and not PA, and of course you can have multiple PA without having an AB. TY!

What's this about Alton Brown then? And why is he in Pennsylvania?

A point! yessssssssssssssssssssss. I'll go Tigers in 5 Plácido Polanco 0.432

I have to abstain. It's really unfair to fans of boths teams. Based on my performance (1-5), I'm a reverse lock for sure.

I love these guys picking their pitchers to hit .005, hedging their bets just in case he goes 1 for 100 in the Series. The NL hasn't won a game in the World Series since 2003. And this Cardinals team is the worst of the lot. Tigers in 4. Plácido Polanco .500 (And will a baseball guy ever win a baseball pool? Or a soccer guy a soccer pool? Or a... well, you see where I'm going with this. What's with?)

Cards will win in 7 games. MVP - Scott Rolen BA - .335 You must believe!!!!

Tigers in 6. I'm not picking them in five since then it won't be in Detroit and there would be no chance of me being there to see it. MVP: Kenny Rogers BA: .000

I love these guys picking their pitchers to hit .005, hedging their bets just in case he goes 1 for 100 in the Series. I originally listed .000, but the math-nerd/game-player said I HAD to change it to .005. I just couldn't help myself.

I love these guys picking their pitchers to hit .005, hedging their bets just in case he goes 1 for 100 in the Series. Ha, I thought the exact same thing. Also, the only way Carpenter can bat .133+-.005 is if he bats 2/15. That's a lot of at bats, even if he gets 3 starts. Let's go for the double bagel: Cards in 6 Yadier Molina .300
