NHL playoffs confidence pool update: Apparently, DrJohnEvans really knows his hockey. As far as I can tell, the podium is set. Some additional tidbits inside.
I need a sweep by the Canes to steal this thing from the good doctor.

I need a sweep by the Canes to steal this thing from the good doctor. Nope, that won't do it. If Carolina wins 4 straight, you'll get 64 points, and DJE will get 56 points, for a gain of 8 points. You are currently trailing by 11 points, so you would still lose by 3 points. Which would mean that if a Carolina sweep occurred, you'd have won the whole thing if Dallas, Anaheim or Tampa had one just ONE more game. The podium is definitely set. Bronze for me!

I could have sworn I was a shoe-in for the Costanza when this thing started.

I could have sworn I was going to win this thing when it started.* * That meaning "after the Habs took the first two games from Carolina"

I'm doing a hell of a lot better in this than I am in the very pool that I'm organizing. ugh. And there, I'm losing to a monkey. if I finish top 10, which I have a good chance to do, I'll be somewhat redeemed. At least I have my Olympic Hockey ribbon.

hey hey! 11th is nothing to sneeze at for a guy who's only seen one hockey game in his life. :D

Now if Carolina wins game 7, I will pull ahead of Weedy for 26th place. It's the little victories that make life worth living.

The highest score given to Edmonton was 8, by commander cody (who hedged his 16 points on Detroit this way) and Folkways. There were a bunch who give them only 1 point. Three people have given total confidence to the Hurricanes: local boy NoMich, danostuporstar and The_Black_Hand. One poor soul gave them a lowly 5. I'll let you guess who. Folkways was the best predictor of the final series, and still has 23 points in play, whereas two people had lowballed Edmonton and Carolina at a combined 8 points: skydivedad, and our future Costanza winner, gspm.
