10K: Shit! YES! [/sad twat]

Sorry - it was childish, but I'm jet-lagged and half-cut so I couldn't resist it. I've been away for a few days, so I missed the conclusion of the "how to change the registration process" debate(s) - I'm not trying to reignite that debate, but will say that I like the three questions thing, especially the international version. Nice work whoever came up with that.

Member count on front page says 9988, does that mean 22 members have been booted? Get anywhere w/ the column JJ? I'm gonna keep bugging you till I read it. Don't rush though, make sure it is up your standard.

10k on SpoFi 2.0. That's a nice convergence.

Moronic convergence?

How do I plug in the 2.0 of this software? Thank you, please be telling me. I urgently await your answer and your bank account number so I can transfer funds. Be thanking you.

I know what you mean.

I thought about doing what JJ did, but I got distracted the last couple of days. My username would have been: grum_would_be_perfection ("Friends" reference, plus 10000 being a nice perfect number)

I feel old. Yeah, but the passing of the fourth year made me feel even older. That's like...a decent chunk of my life, and even more of the life I can remember.

Voom! What was that? That was your life, mate. Do I get another? No, sorry.

posted by owlhouse at 08:39 PM on February 20, 2006

Ah yes, happy... I remember that

njsk8r20 - member count, smember count - it's all about the shirt number. I had a stab at writing the column while I was in Dubai, but it came out as a self pitying lamentation of my fall from sporting glory and included far too many details about my own mental state (which no one wants to hear about - not even me). I've tried again, but it was lacking something. I may wait until the end of the winter Olympics and focus on Bode. Everyone else seems to be doing so.

njsk8r20 - on a completely unrelated topic, and in complete violation of every rule on the site - I spent a night in NJ last week! They shut down all the airports so I ended up stranded and spending an unplanned night in a Days Inn near the GW bridge! Surprised we didn't bump into each other.

Actually I don't live there anymore. The company I was working for went under and another company in KY that came in to buy equipment during the going out of business sale hired me. So here I am in Wildcats country and had to join Spofi to have an intellegent hockey conversation. Oh well, I guess I liked the idea of the column because I never had the motivation to play organized sports in school. I hated the way coaches, parents, and other kids gave someone a hard time if they struck out or fumbled the ball etc... Anyway, JJ thanks for trying.

Oh I'm still trying - I'm no quitter - I had that psychoically driven into me for many years by my coach. *facial twitch*

Lexington, nj? I used to go there for conferences all the time. Nice town.

It looked lovely under 26.9 inches of snow.

posted by JJ at 09:32 AM on February 21, 2006

Can't say I miss that. We got one whole inch down here and believe it or not, they cancelled school (pansies).

njsk8r20: We got one whole inch down here Hey hey hey hey!

Well, not trying to brag or anything.

We got one whole inch down here If you need help with that you might want to check what your spam filter is catching.

You mean what Matt from Florida takes that his girlfriend thinks is natural?

posted by njsk8r20 at 01:15 PM on February 21, 2006

We got one whole inch down here and believe it or not, they cancelled school (pansies). We get that a lot down here in Raleigh as well, but when you correctly budget only a buck and a half for snow removal, then it's pretty understandable why everything shuts down for a while at the slightest hint of winter weather.

We should all chip in and buy NoMich a broom.

posted by DrJohnEvans at 01:36 PM on February 21, 2006

No need for a broom. If I need to sweep any dusting of snow out of the way, I make my dogs sit and then talk happytalk to them to get their tails going. Voila, nothing to sweep anymore. Or I could just "shovel", Chicago style. Just dump 10 lbs. of salt over everything.

posted by NoMich at 01:40 PM on February 21, 2006

I'll pay extra because I have to admit to taking some enjoyment from those dustings down South that result in 30 car pile-ups.

Now that I've moved from North Carolina to Northern Indiana, I'm getting a whole new appreciation for the art of snow clearing. They do not fuck around up here, that's for sure. I'm finding it's impossible to keep your car clean in the wintertime up here, however.

That's what carports and garages are for, TBH.

posted by NoMich at 02:23 PM on February 21, 2006

That's what carports and garages are for, TBH. Silly warm weather folk. Your car becomes the color of salt with or without a garage.

NoMich, actually, my garage is for my wife's car.

Silly warm weather folk. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I misread his original statement. And for the record, I'm born 'n bred in lake effect snows of Antrim County, Michign. I've only been down south for ~10 years.

posted by NoMich at 07:06 PM on February 21, 2006

Oh Yeah Antrim County. Last weekend they closed the roads except emergency traffic and it was no dusting! Oh Yeah!!!!

posted by skydivemom at 07:22 PM on February 21, 2006

Well that sucks, wish we could get some lake effect snow.

You people would never survive in New England. :) We spit on your 1 inch of snow. We laugh in the face of your road-closing-emergency-traffic-only-everyone-into-the-storm-bunkers 1 inch of snow.
