I did post that FPP. But I know I'm not guilty of 'constant updates on the state and welfare of minor league hockey in Canada'.

I know I'm not guilty of 'constant updates on the state and welfare of minor league hockey in Canada' either. (except in Weedy's mind)

Bo, as an aside, I thought your original CHL post was FP worthy.

tommy: I think weedy was just making light of the fact that someone was perceived as thinking your FPP about the CHL's playoff system was not worthy of the front page.

BoKnows did that FPP .

The last time I posted something about junior (not minor) hockey in Canada, was when the Windsor Spitfires won the Memorial Cup, May 24, 2010 .

That would be equal to someone posting on who wins the mythical college football championship in the U.S.A. (except the teams actually play a tourament, it's not a vote)

*does not apply to tommytrump and his constant updates on the state and welfare of minor league hockey in Canada. Sweet god, too much is too much.

Care to expand on that a little, Weedy ?

The only series of updates on hockey in Canada I've posted was a six part series from Canada's national newspaper in connection with the leading sports network in Canada, on whether the NHL should look to relocate teams to cities north of the border.

It would have been foolish to post parts of the series without posting all of it.

Last time I checked, the NHL was one of the four major sports leagues in North America.

As I stated earlier in this thread, "If you don't like a FPP, move on to the next one."

Weedy, feel free to ignore all my posts, I promise I won't cry if you don't read them.

Exactly what DrJE, and tahoemoj said.

I wouldn't have found the article about Zenyatta, had it not been posted here, and I enjoy reading stories about horse racing. I'm a hockey fan, and wouldn't have known about the CHL playoff format without Spofi.

As has been said by many different people many different times:

"If you don't like a FPP, move on to the next one."

FPP Yanked?

For those of my age it would go: Peter Graves opens laptop he finds concealed in a 'phone booth. Clicks on Sports Filter and sees post from rcade. Reads post as voice-over gives details. Declines to comment, and voice-over says, "This post will self-destruct in 18 hours." Post (and laptop) disappear in a cloud of smoke.

What's a phone booth ?

Should SportsFilter Think of the Children?

Since it looks like I started this, just a couple of points:

I've posted over 2,000 times on SpoFi, and have probably used profanity on a dozen occasions. Almost all of these were trying for some kind of comedic effect. Like most things in life, humour is in the eye of the beholder, and subtlety is often lost in print.

If owlhouse started this, I pressed down on the accelerator. I've posted over 1400 times, and I'd guess I've used profanity in about a dozen threads. I'd be surprised if it was that many. It was not my intention to offend anyone, but the administrators here run a fairly liberal site, and as has been stated by others, as long as you don't attack other members on a personal level, you're pretty much free to say what you want.

Oh, and ''fuck Gary Bettman."

I'm sorry, THX, I didn't realize your wife was ill(or if you had told us, I'd forgotten). My thoughts are with you.

Things do seem to be getting better here bit by bit. As rcade said, when Gary gets back to the U.S.A., he's going to get back to work on the coding on the site. It is a lot of work I'm sure. I'm not particularly computer savvy either, and it can get frustrating. Your contributions to the site are valued and we miss having you around.

Chick Hearn (how can I be the first person to be mentioning him?) - the voice of the Lakers No wonder I hate the Lakers. All those N.B.A. championships aren't enough? Their great former announcer was also one of the best baseball broadcasters too. When is enough enough!?

Best All-Time Baseball Broadcaster?

1.Tom Cheek 2.Dan Shulman 3.Vin Scully 4.Ernie Harwell 5.Harry Caray Tom Cheek was my friend. I listened to him about 160 or so days of the year. Well, he wasn't really my friend, he had no idea who I was, but I was one of thousands upon thousands of Blue Jay fans who enjoyed Tom so much. When Blue Jays baseball was on the air, Tom Cheek was there. For the first 4,344 Blue Jay games, Tom was there to guide us and entertain us, and paint pictures for us. Tom Cheek, for many, was Blue Jays baseball. Tom died in October of 2005, taken far too soon, by a recurring brain tumor. He signed off his broadcasts with the same expression after every game. "Folks, thanks a million for tuning in. " As a baseball fan first, and a Blue Jays fan, "thanks a million Tom, for entertaining us so very well."
