Should SportsFilter Have a Daily Catch-All Link?: The Drudge Retort has a daily Nooner post that's an open thread for any discussion that doesn't belong in any of the existing stories. It has been a useful and popular feature. Should SportsFilter have something similar?

I think it would be a good idea. Sort of like a daily link dump.

I dig the idea.

What time of the day are you suggesting? I will need to adjust for my time zone.
NB: No matter much I love you guys, I'm still not getting up in the middle of the night. Unless I have to pee.

Yes.

I'll complain about it at first, and then grow to love it, and then complain against in six months' time when you change the time of the daily post.
I think we should name it The Judge Redfield T. Baum Story Hour.

Yes. My suggestion for the name: The Dump.

I'd be up for taking a Dump here once in a while.

I've seen it work other places, so why not.

Daily seems like it may be a bit much, but as long as you mods are willing to deal with the heavy-handed action that I suspect this would require, I think it would be an interesting experiment.

Yep, had that same thought also.

Speaking as a purveyor of idiotic comments, I'm happy to let them stand in perpetuity*

The Huddle is scheduled to be posted each morning at 8 a.m. Eastern so it's at the bottom of each day's links.

I miss a lot of things from around here. Mostly the way it was, I guess.
I can understand that, but I think a little experimentation here was needed. SportsFilter's drawing 60 percent of the traffic it did in January 2008, and the number of front-page posts has dropped over that time as well.
I suggested the Huddle because there ought to be more stuff to do here. It's an experiment, so we'll see over time whether it works out.

As far as I can see, it's working out just fine. It gives us a place to drop the random, less significant tidbit of news that really is not important enough to make a FPP. What I've looked at in the past 2 days are a number of things in which I have little interest, but more importantly, a few things in which I am quite interested. Maybe it's not for everyone, but it is certainly a hit with me.

Oh, so that's what that is. I was wondering who the hell huddle is and why he/she gets to post threads with no links.

Huddle's a good guy. Loves pancakes and obscure sports links. Man of few words. Best damned salesman in the office. Slept with all our wives and he still sends them flowers on Valentine's Day.
