The top 100 college point guards: of the last fifteen years. The top 20 is the only one i have truly examined and agree with the makeup of the list if not the individual rankings.

Ty Willingham Gone!!: Do you think a deal is already done with Urban Meyer whose dream job is ND? This is the first time an ND coach has been fired before first contract was up.

Chicago to get its own soccer stadium: that will give 4 of the 10 teams with soccer-specific facilities. Does the MLS have a chance to break into the national sports conscience?

ESPN's lists silver anniversary teams this week...: I caught the tail end of tonight's ACC listing and it was Laettner, Sampson, Mark Price, Jordan; I would imagine Len Bias at other forward. Did anyone see this or has seen the others???

Final Page 2: rankings of the MLB ballparks after touring them all this summer. PNC came out first and Olympic Stadium the worst. Pretty interesting to read assessments of different facets (beer selection and prices, fan knowledge, trading up seats, 7th inning stretch routines, etc.) around the league.

Some interesting facts: about everyone's favorite tennis star. Personally, her #1 ranking on FHM's list was complete bs. She is hot, but there are alot of models/singers/actresses that are alot better.

Eight Division 3 schools may lose: their Division 1 status if this legislation goes through. I understand the D3 notion that they want to ensure academic integrity and "pure student-athletes" but I think 8 schools that have traditionally played this route including several that have won or competed for national titles (Hopkins, most prominently, but Hartwick, Colorado, etc.) and maintained high standards is a worthy exception.
Detroit trying to improve its image: for the 2006 Super Bowl. They have a long way to go and will probably have to dock ships to compensate for inadequate hotel space.

The retro jersey craze continues,: I was never a fan of wearing jerseys unless its a game day (and not the biggest fan of that), and hate when people wear them strictly as fashion item. Case in point, a 16-year old walking around NYC in a George McGuiness Pacers jersey, who no doubt has no idea who McGuiness was and probably had never heard of him prior to seeing the jersey. That may not be the case for some of the athletes paying homage to those who have gone before them, but I think it is for the average kid on the street.

Decision to be reached soon on Redskins: trademark dispute. The Skins lost in a hearing before the Trademark Board a few years ago as the mark was found to be disparaging to Native Americans. Even if the ruling is adverse to the team, I wouldn't expect any changes as this will appealed to the circuit and ultimately the Supreme Court.

Nike's buyout of Converse: angering some individuals who view Nike as corporate giant with evil labor practices while Converse was quasi counter-culture outlet. Since Nike says they are not going to change design process or even corporate structure (and their history with previous buyout followed the same practice), I really don't see what they are bitching about.

NY Daily News Panel of Experts: picks the all-time New York Yankee team. I have to disagree with Rizzuto over Jeter. Even assuming Rizzuto was the best shortstop in the AL for much of his career, and Jeter is only 3rd today; the shortstops of today are far superior and such an argument is moot.
