Do players fail black coaches? : Interesting quote from Tim Hardawaywhere he states that black players respond to white coaches better.

That is some interesting shit. There have been lots of complaints here in Seattle about the way several of the Sonics (Jerome James, Rashard Lewis, Calvin Booth) don't seem to give their all for Nate McMillan. It was also (maybe) a problem last year between Gary Payton and McMillan, although Gary is just kind of wired that way and may have nothing to do with the Black/Black thing. Interesting premise and something to watch for.

But black players seem to play pretty well for Phil Jackson.

Its very interesting and controversial, and I don't really know how I feel about it. But does the theory just apply to basketball; Dungy, Edwards, Lewis all seem to have guys that love to play for them and totally respond to coaching.

This theory might have some truth, but remember the source: Stephen A. Smith, the most obnoxious man on ESPN. He's such an idiot that we stop listening to him, so he throws in a crazy idea once in a while to drag us back.

I'm not really sure how to respond to this. How does someone quantify the effort being put out by black athetes for white coaches as opposed to black coaches? I suppose if Tim Hardaway says there is some difference, his word should carry some weight. Someone help me out here.
