Damn, we've gotten to the point that we love to demonize people, haven't we? Talkin' about Bobby, not Pat. I dunno if this is a consequence or a symptom of our political landscape over the past X years, but it seems to have gotten to the point that everybody's walkin' around with their pockets full of stones, lookin' for targets. Bobby was an arrogant s.o.b. with an oft out-of-control temper, but if you polled the players who actually played for him, I'd be willing to bet that better than 75% of them would say they'd do it over again - he was also a helluva coach. And a truth-teller. Seems Pat inherited that, for better or worse.

It always torques me when some bozo in front of me won't sit down when (essentially) everybody else in the entire stadium is sitting. There's a time to jump up and holler for sure, but you can't jump up if you're already standing. I always have the feeling these guys just want to be noticed. Mission accomplished.

Makes you wonder if some of our cities are becoming so gang-saturated that wearing another team's logo to your stadium is seen by some as the same as wearing another gang's colors on your turf.

I'm gonna risk looking stupid - something I haven't done since '55 - or was that :55? - and say that Brad Stevens is the next Bob Knight of bball, sans the temper and ego, and that team basketball is gonna win this one.

And, to some extent, this schools devalue even their tuition when they fail to graduate many players and steer other players to easy degrees that won't help them get a job in the future. Good point.

It is interesting that there have been two discussions within the past couple of days centered around the use of the word, "slave" (as used by Adrian Peterson), and the term, "Uncle Tom" here.
Seems to me that part of what is going on is that those terms resonate with a certain sacredness for people who lived through the civil rights era, but now there is a generation for whom The Civil Rights Era was an American History or Social Studies lesson, and those words are more-or-less just words to them. Us fogies tend to get out the torches and pitchforks when somebody "blasphemes", but the truth is, it's just our crazyass language evolving.

Waitaminute, racade, where does it say they "went into a house and robbed everyone in it of their valuables"? I think it's possible, based on either article, that they may have gone to recover items they felt were stolen from them, but because they showed a gun, it's armed robbery. Either way it's dumb, dumb, dumb . . . but there may be more to this story than immediately meets the eye.

Seems to me that if Tiger's gonna hold a grudge against anyone about this, it should be Shane Bacon. That quote from Steele sounds like it could've been a reply to a question of how Steele shot a better round than Tiger, or how it felt or whatever. Given what rcade posted, I really doubt that Steele meant what he said as a knock on Tiger.

Yeah. And murderers kill people. (Actually, PETA has argued for mass euthanization of pits too, which makes them just as bad, and kind of funny that his little pro-animal publicity stunt was to be with them.) Actually, Burnreuther, Vick advocates for the Humane Society, not PETA, and the president of the Humane Society has repeatedly said that Vick has lived up to every promise he made them. I live in Atlanta where the we get all the buzz on Vick, good or bad.

I submit for your consideration the possibility that the Eagles organization may have had the intention of making Vick their starting quarterback at the earliest politically-possible opportunity (if of course the skills that made him a Pro Bowl quarterback had not eroded past the point of no return) more-or-less since the moment they decided to pick him up.
Disclosure: I'm an Atlantan and a Falcons fan.
I was pretty amazed that no other team but the Eagles had the crystal balls to pick up a quarterback who would have to be a solid candidate for the best backup in the NFL, for nothing more than some negative publicity.
When they let McNabb go (who by all accounts I've read was a major influence in bringing Vick to the Eagles), I really had a feeling that it was a move intended to ease Vick into the starting role.
Just my thoughts.
