Teixera is a first baseman. He rarely even sees much of the field, as he certainly is not much of a hitter any more. Seems to me he should be toward the tail end of the line for complainers. Clyde, you're a clod.

I have long advocated for the return to the leather helmets. Sounds preposterous on the surface, but would eliminate the rampant spearing that goes on. I firmly believe that the headgear was not originally intended to be used as a weapon.

Both mlb top seeds going home for the weekend with leads, despite the surfeit of articles I've seen this week regarding how much trouble each of them was in. Likely to see a familiar matchup in the fall classic. The first Sox Dodgers series since 1916 would be interesting though, given a recent trade.

Read this a few days ago, and I think Craggs is more than a little off base here. Rice was nothing more than a product of his time. If you were in New York, he had something like fifteen other papers he was competing with for your eyeballs. If you were in most other areas of the country, there was little other means to get any information about the goings on in the world of sport. The flowery prose was endemic to the era. Many historical figures do not come off particularly well when viewed through a prism filtered with our current realities and sensitivities. It seems rather unfair to cast them in that light.

I have also watched each Super Bowl, from before that was the name of the game. I was 8 when the first took place, and few of the adults I was surrounded by thought the " AFL-NFL championship game" would ever amount to anything. 2 years later, the Jets changed that.
