Hornish Wins the Indianapolis 500: In the second closest finish at Indianapolis, Sam Hornish Jr. got a good run exiting the final turn and passed rookie Marco Andretti for the win.

Hornish took a drive-through penalty. That ending was incredible. Marco Andretti passes his father with three laps left, defends his lead against Hornish with one lap, then loses it by less than a car length. The announcers were giddy. I like how Marco handled himself in the post-race interview, where he was completely despondent. "Second is nothing," he said.

Ya gotta like his spirit, but he'll have plenty of chances to win it (barring a disaster). He sure gave it a heck of a try, but Hornish did an awful lot to earn it, too.

Wow, Ganassi was the real loser here today. That'll continue tonight in the Coca Cola 600.

I was at the race. What a finish! I would have liked to see Andretti-Green in the winners circle, but Hornish is a class act. Nice job by all.

He'd probably be the first to admit that he was lucky to have a shot at winning, thanks to the late caution which turned it into a four-lap sprint. Of course, that's why I don't particularly like this form of racing, even if it produces exciting results.

Great Race. Had the flair of Indy of old.

Very good race. The first 67 laps were a snoozer. After that, it was a good race.

TiVo.....the best thing to ever be invented for watching races, the 500 in particular. FF thru all the boring stuff and turn the greatest 4-hr specticle in racing into about 45 min. of excitement. Great finish....thats what the 500 is all about...gotta admit I was pulling for the kid, but Hornish is very deserving, and had the best car all month. Way to go, Sam!!

What a freakin finish... I couldn't believe Hornish came back after the early take off... Isn't there supposed to be a penalty for that?
