Green Light... RED LIGHT! haha go back to the beginning.: While crew chief Roy McCauley argued the call - and the ensuing penalty that left Busch as the last car on the lead lap - NASCAR officials said the caution and the light closing pit road happened 2 seconds before the driver headed past the commitment line for a stop.

Dreaming of Coney Island conquest: "With his waistline fattened by a record 47 grilled cheese sandwiches and his wallet fattened by $2,500 in prize money, champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut was back in San Jose on Monday, preparing for his next gastronomic feat."

most significant sporting figures of the 20th century: "This whole "top x# of sporting figures in the 20th century" could be a really interesting thread in itself." Lets go with "top half-dozen" at the suggestion of chico.

Yawn... it was an exciting couple of minutes at the end, but one of the least memorable finals I can remember as far as hype/ pre-game buzz goes. I just really didn't care when it came right down to it.

Almost as bad as the world class gold medal athlete Carl Lewis' attempt. apparently you can't really find that one online anymore unfortunately.

I must say rcade, with all due respect, the thread seems a little unnecessary without any sort of political comments or "comments about the president;" Seeing as how the boos were made with vigor prior to the throw, it seems unlikely that they were made in relation to the "mechanics" of the throw itself. I suppose it is possible that he was booed because he's an acknowledged ranger fan/ former ranger owner, but... Maybe the real topic has something to do with the fact that baseball season ticket buyers are increasingly older every season*, and thus increasingly likely conservative**, yet they are still booing the republican president... In the nations capital. If that is too political the thread seems maybe too politically charged. *I searched for a cite for this for all of about 27 seconds before I lost interest. **I didn't even try... I'll happily recant if provided with evidence.

Everyone on Spofi loves "futbol" so much, and those guys really know how to take sponsorship seriously. I'm sure the discussion to follow will include near unanimous approval.

Lots of lifetime/long-term ban talk already; I think that is premature. This was not a Kermit Washington type obvious anger fueled deal. There needs to be some sort of official proceedings with the specific intent of determining Taylor's intent, whether by the FA, or by the british judicial system. It does not seem unlikely to me that this is possibly as HATER mentioned above a case of "mis-timing." I am a runner, and not a team sports guy, but I have watched enough team sports at the pro and amateur level to know that when two people are moving and fighting as fast and hard as they can, sometimes shit happens. Regardless, that is awful.

Maybe Mavs starting 5: Jason Kidd Jason Terry Josh Howard Dirk Nowitzki Erick Dampier And, they've still got Juwana man and Eddie Jones coming off the bench, with the near guarantee of Stackhouse coming back... This is a great team.

WOW... I knew kids in high school who would b.s. about "oh, this school wants me, and that school wants me," but this is ... WOW. Talk about "you don't need to lie to kick it." This guy needs some friends.

Kansas Wins National Title...
for the record: I didn't say the game itself was boring, I said the hype around the game was less than it could have been, and I had failed to be interested in the winner. I even added that the end of the game added some excitement.
