Dreaming of Coney Island conquest: "With his waistline fattened by a record 47 grilled cheese sandwiches and his wallet fattened by $2,500 in prize money, champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut was back in San Jose on Monday, preparing for his next gastronomic feat."
i hope this doesn't make it on the espn highlights of the week. :)

I think it will. ESPN always has good coverage of the 4th of July Hot Dog eating contest. Hey, they also do poker and spelling bees so an eating contest fits right in. The article says he has the record for eating deep fried asparagus. Maybe the key to getting into competitive eating is to find some food that has no record associated with it and go from there. I am gonna go for honey roasted almonds.

Chestnut, who's only been eating competitively -- as opposed to socially or just for nutrition... That made me laugh. Chestnut's gunning for him, training twice a week for speed and volume. That made me think he'll be dead soon. Seriously, is there any training regiment for this type of event that is endorsed by anyone in the medical field? I bet doctors would rather see you taking PEDs.

Whoops. I did the regimen/regiment thing. Stupid. Not enough sleep.

After ingesting 47 cheese sandwiches, I'm betting he had plenty of time to sit and reflect on that accomplishment, in a nice, quiet little room.......

Ok, Important, or not even in the slightest that this is going to be seen as ESPN worthy come July? The whole US challenge to the Japanese throne that is Kobayashi is going to get a ton of play about two weeks from now, It seems almost certain, so is this the last SpoFi thread on competitve eating, or not?

I'm not doing this for Fenster, I'm not doing it for you... I'm doing it for me. I'm gonna finish this thing. This Kobayashi bastard is not gonna stand on me! Hey, guy works for Keyser Soze. How can he be beaten?
